That happens to me a lot; I love blazers. The cut expects your hips to start flaring below where they actually do. I have a couple shirts that have to be worn as layers and a cardigan that is never buttoned, all kept because they have a dedicated purpose and I'm okay with that. Not everything I own needs to be 100% versatile. (Forum heresy, I know!) The dress may very well be an underpinnings issue. That makes a lot of sense! What's fabulous is that I totally think this is the right cut. It looks great on you! I also love the jacket, but I wonder if it is pulling just a bit when closed. I always have problems with mine pulling. I notice it under the bust on you. It also looks a bit like it may be pulling at the vent, but I can't really tell because your arm is up, so that could be causing it. The dress is the only item that I'm not super in love with. Is it jersey? I find solid colored jersey is really hard to wear. Honestly, I think it manufactures figure problems that we don't even have. But please take that with a grain of salt because I'm beginning to think that I have a poison eye for solid jersey dresses! Patterns and gathered patterns? Love 'em. Solid? Seems like it would work with many of the things in my closet.
