<p>To me, you look like a very nice and well-proportioned rectangle. :-)</p>
<p>By the way, rectangles don't need to be neither tall nor slim.

<p><div>Thanks to all of you for your great advice! I still have a very long journey ahead of me (right now none of my clothes flatter me since I have been very negligent) but at least now I have found a starting point.</div><div><br /></div><div>Next I will try and dive some more into those fabled Kibbe types and try and start to learn about color types. Hopefully I'll be able to muster up the confidence to take and post a picture of myself including my face so I can get some more help regarding those two (since I tend to be really bad at objectively describing/perceiving myself). <br /></div>

<p>Your measurements seem that you could dress like an hourglass in that your shoulder measurement is about the same as your hips and your waist is considerably smaller. Try clothes that flaunt your small waist like fit-n-flair dresses or shirtwaist dresses with a bit of a swishy skirt.

<p>Rectangles with small busts? Probably when they were 20 years old.</p>
<p>I have a hard time fitting myself into a category. I lean towards rectangle but with a bust. I have a narrow ribcage though, and so my "bust" measurement doesn't correspond with my DDD or DDDD cup. Much smaller back in the day.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Liz and Jenava offer good insights.&nbsp;

<p><div>One of the problems with a calculator is that the body shape silhouettes are always determined by looking at a person's outline from the <i>front</i>. A calculator asks you to measure <i>around</i>. Two women could have the same hip measurement -- one has narrow hips and a full bottom, the other has a flat bottom and wide hips. But the calculator has no way of knowing that and thinks they're the same shape. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The simplest way to tell is to wear dark, close-fitting clothing and stand in front of a mirror. Look at your shoulders, waist, and hips. Which is widest? Is there a strong difference or a small difference between your waist and your shoulders and hips? Are your shoulders and hips about even, or are your shoulders wider or are your hips larger wider? <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Like Jenava said, don't take it too seriously -- it's just a jumping off point. It can point you in a direction but bodies are too unique to easily slot into a handful of shapes. (And it's way to easy to think everyone else has "better" shapes and we have the "wrong" shape. No such thing. EVERYONE can look good, and everyone has fit challenges.) <br /></div></p>

<p><div>Thanks a lot to both of you! I only recently started to get interested in different body types, but I can't wait to try out some of the reommended clothing styles.<br />
I will also look into the other types you guys mentioned.</p>
<p> I have realized that a lot of the stuff I own does not fit my type at all so it'll be an interesting journey. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>

<p>Agree w Jenava. Rectangles can be different size though- it's just a matter of waist and hip/bust ratio.<br />
You may want to look at kibbe "natural" type- which would be like a rectangle.

<p>I think what you should try is taking some garments that are typically good on rectangles and see how they feel on you.</p>
<p>Have you also considered an Inverted Triangle with perhaps Rectange secondary?&nbsp; Feel free to mix an match to suite your needs!&nbsp; Remember, this is only a means to an end, which is to come up with some ideas for what types of garments will fit you easily and be traditionally flattering on you.&nbsp; And even after all that, I find I very frequently flout the "rules" for my shape(s).

<p>
<div>Yesterday I used one of those body-shape calculators. Now, it wasn't my first time using one, and I have already used multiple ones. No matter which ones I use, I keep getting a rectangle shape as my result.</div><div><br /></div><div>However, whenever I read articles about rectangles, they keep on talking about certain aspects that don't fit me very well. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>"Rectangles are tall and lean - rectangles have a small bust - they have trouble gaining weight - they look slender."</div><div><br /></div><div>I am by no means tall, since I am 5'2. Neither am I lean or slender, in my opinion my body is simply average looking with a tendency to be rather blocky, although that could just be me overanalysing stuff. My bust isn't small either. In the european measuring system my size is a 70 E/F.</div><div>I also tend to stay around the same weight, which is currently about 125 lbs. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Now this is where I need your help. This is a picture of me: <a rel="nofollow" href="https://ibb.co/m5SVJm0">https://ibb.co/m5SVJm0</a></div><div><br /></div><div>And those are my measurements:<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Shoulders: 97 cm or 38''<br /></div><div>Bust: 92 cm or 36''<br /></div><div>Waist: 73 cm or 29''<br /></div><div>High hip: 86 cm or 34''<br /></div><div>Hip: 94 cm or 37''<br /></div></p>
