How about a trench or coat the same length as the dress? You could add a lariat knotted scarf, or long string of beads. I would not encourage a cardigan. This look needs a change of texture. If you have other jackets, or if you can buy some, than you can come up with more than 3 ways to wear this. Would you consider thick grey or brown tights and some booties to be a different look.
