I just took in a pair of pants to be narrowed - they were a straight leg though. (a bad purchase I'm trying to salvage - two pairs of pants that are a really awkward width....don't know what I was thinking!) I tried to do that with a pair of bootcuts that had shrunk on me, and I could never get the balance of the legs right even when taking in both the inseam and outseam. It depends on how the legs are cut and how the grain falls.
