I think they look great. The pooching crotch area doesn't look bad at all to me and in fact is what I would kind of expect from a BF style, but.....if you like these overall (and can't get passed the pooching) then yes, it is probably a good time to invest in a pair of new BFs.

I think they look good--baggy weird crotches are part of what I see often in boyfriend jeans. However, if you want to change that, would it be possible for your tailor to take in the side seems a bit, just on the front side? You might lose the rivet, but maybe the tailor could start just below it? You also might lose a little of the darker line just beside the seam on the front side, but that can be taken care of with a well chosen blue pen, right? And I love side seams that are a smidge to the front of the pants because they visually trick the eye to create a more slimming shape. I notice it a lot on very slimming pants. The side seam doesn't run along the side of the pants, but runs just a bit to the front of the pant.

Hmm, I see what you mean about the pooching. (Rae calls this the "plum smuggling" look.) I think button flys and stiffer fabric tends to do this unless they're REALLY oversized.

As a fellow pear-shaped lady, I can highly recommend the Sexy BF jeans from Gap. I went one size up. You will need to wear a belt as the waist is really big. The fabric is soft and slouches very nicely, no pooching in sight.

I DIY'd a pair of bf jeans too. I found myself drawn to all of the cropped styles of bf jeans. Since I'm not wearing my bootcuts anymore, I hacked off the wide leg bottom part and made perfectly cute slouchy bf cutoffs. I can't wait to wear them this summer! Great reuse! Thanks for sharing!

A few weeks ago I pulled on my favorite distressed jeans, excited to wear them for the warmer weather in Charlotte. I pulled them on and realized I had lost some weight and they were about 2 sizes too big (yay!). Not wanting to throw them away, I took them to get altered to fit my waist, but still be a bit baggier so as to serve the purpose of boyfriend jeans, thus creating my own. In short, bad idea. Full story + before and after pics here: http://bit.ly/ZZP9US
