I'm not from Boston, but I do know that most skirt full hems are about $20 here in Wisconsin. Since prices here are generally lower than the east coast, id say your 20-30 quotes are pretty accurate.

The price of the alteration really depends on the structure of the garment. If your skirts are lined, embellished, or denim and you want to preserve the look of the original hem, I'd say the prices are typical, because those alterations are more labor intensive. If it is a very simple hem then I'd say the price is a little high.

Does anyone know what average prices are for alterations? I am thinking of having some skirts hemmed to knee length from ankle and have been calling around. I have been quoted from 20.00 to 30.00. Is that normal? I used to go to a local drycleaner that was much less but have moved away from that area. Does anyone live in the Boston area and have any recommendations? (North shore) if possible although willing to travel if need be.
Thanks
