I like the collar and the color. I'm not a seamstress but I'm guessing it's the pockets that make the alteration most difficult? How can you take in enough fabric from the front with them in the way? They are an interesting part of the design. If you pull all the material from the back, the vest might not hang on you in the way you are expecting. Angie's advice is the sad truth huh?! So sorry. Big and long. Well, I fell in love with this one, but it wasn't available in (what I thought was) my size. But I checked back from time to time, and lo and behold, at the end of the season, it pops up in a medium.</p> <p>Well, as you can see, it's quite big! Weird sizing. I wish I had know, I would have ordered the small way back when I first saw it. The shoulder fit is ok, and even the hip is not terribly big, but there is easily an extra 6 inches of fabric around the middle (and that's holding it loosely). I would probably never wear it buttoned, fwiw. </p> <p>I think it has potential, but it would be a significant alteration. I have been so thrilled with my other long jackets that I really like the idea of this one. I like that this one has a casual vibe and a dramatic collar, something missing from other long vests I've seen.</p> <p>Give it to me straight -- is it worth altering or should I just give up on the idea for now and send it back? </p>
