Yay! I'm so glad you're going for it. What a great deal and the colours and style are fab. I'm sure the slight excess of fabric can be resolved.

Well, Sharan and Aliona, you tipped the scales. Your encouragement to at least bring to a tailor made me take another look at the dress this morning, and - of course - Last Call has a 40% coupon today! So I've ordered it to give it a try. I think it's worth seeing what a tailor says. We will see!

I don't have a splashy fun day dress for the summer and I really think I would enjoy this, so I'm hoping it works.

Oh gosh, Viva, I love this on you! I know nothing about alterations, so sorry I can't help there, but I am learning a ton from hearing our experts weigh in. i just want to say how fabulous this dress looks on you -- and its so brilliant with your new JCrew ballet flats. Because they looked so fab on you in your shoe post the other day, I went out and lemminged myself into a pale pink pair

I really like the dress on you, and if it's returnable, I think it's worth taking to a tailor and checking into. If it's not lined, alterations at the princess seams would be fairly straightforward.

This is the same problem I have with dresses. I tried to get one that I really loved (chartreuse Nanette Lepore) adjusted, but the sewer that I go to did not have good talents, and I ended up looking really flat.

It may do Vivian. Pop the dress on and pinch up a bit of fabric at the shoulder line to see if it helps flatten the bubbling of fabric. Also do the same at the width. Or try getting a safety pin and pinning a little excess fabric at either length or width to see where you get best results. If you go to a good tailor though, they should be able to fit it on you anyway and decide the best route to take.

I am pretty sure this can be fixed but it will be complicated. Adjustment should be possible in those exposed seams.

I'll defer to fitting ninja Diane G, but the bodice length looks about right to me. You don't want to mess with the shoulders, maybe make a vertical adjustment from the waistline?

Diane, this happens to me quite a bit. I've always chalked it up to (a) being small busted and (b) being short waisted. I think it is a vertical problem, as you say. Does that make sense? On another dress, the tailor took some fabric out at the shoulder seam to lift the top, and it really helped. I'm not sure if it would help here.

I've left the store but good news: I can buy it from the site. So cute, right? Lisap: I feel like a dishrag too - all gray and black - and tomorrow I head back to the slushy northeast. But how nice it would be to have this in the mail.

Oh my. You need to buy this. Yes, it is alterable. If not through the exposed front seaming, then through creating a dart at each side. You are so cute in this kind of look - I feel like a dull washrag today in comparison. Bring on the colour !

Hmm, without actually being there it's difficult to say about the bust fit. on photo #2 it looks ok but in #3 it's as though there is too much depth vertically...almost as though the seam is stretched. Is there too much room around your bust or does the width seem ok? As I said, its a vertical thing... I think.

I LOVE this Milly dress I found at Last Call in San Fran, not cheap but less than half the price of the Rag & Bone. It's got that great colorful hectic design and is so cute over pants. It's a scuba material and it has pockets. It even has a waist that fits! But the bust is a bust.

Sewing experts: can this be fixed?

Others: is it worth it? Imagine worn with white skinnies and cropped flares also, and potentially bare legs

NOTE: I have added the Find and also a Find for another Milly dress from Last Call that might be less challenging fit-wise because of construction (and cheaper)
