I had to size up -- I am usually a 6 or 6-1/2 but a 7 works for me with Allbirds. I don't find they stretch that much: my first pair was a 6 and I wore it a lot, walking everywhere, and it didn't stretch. My toes were rubbing and the arch felt off. Sized up to a 7 and they fit much better.&nbsp;</p> <p>I wore the grey pair hiking in Sedona. I am now wearing the white pair a lot for Spring. I find these are SUPER comfortable (without socks, even). They make my feet so happy. :-)</p> <p>As for the loafers, I bought my kids those for xmas. I gave them a choice of runners or loafers and they both wanted loafers. I don't personally care for the look of the loafers for "outside" shoes, but my kids do wear them that way (one is a home health aid, the other a teacher's aid -- works for their professions). If I was a slipper wearing person at home, I would get a pair of the loafers, but I just wear socks.</p> <p>Have yet to wash mine but consider their washability a plus.&nbsp;</p> <p>I would like to try the skippers next, as the Allbirds (being wool) do get too hot for summer wear. I've worn them a lot (mild California winter) and they look almost new. I haven't washed them, but I wipe the white part.</p> <p>I bought them in the San Francisco store, where they advised half-size wearers to size down as the shoes stretch a bit with wear. I agree that they are stretchy (they aren't as supportive as a more structured shoes). I'm a 71/2 and sized up as I have bunions (see pic) and I need plenty of room. It's worked out fine--the stretch hasn't made them floppy. Purchased one year ago and worn heavily all year long. They are at 40+ wears for this year alone, as they became my go-to house shoes once it got too cold to wear them outside. I have washed them twice and they look good. No holes or real signs of wear on the upper. The outsole is fine -- the tread is pretty minimal to begin with; has compressed under the heel a bit, but I think they're more comfortable that way.
