Thank you all!

I am starting to feel better, but boy, there are some nasty bugs going around and this cough is really lingering. Hope all of you stay healthy.

I think I may leave the fringe alone. I'm not the craftiest person, and I would be awfully afraid of destroying a pretty piece. But I appreciate the suggestions!

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

So sorry that you've been ill, especially on your b'day. Hope that you kick it soon and it doesn't hang around all winter.

Very happy belated birthday greetings. Sounds like you had a marvelous time even though you were feeling poorly.

Your outfit is stunning as usual and is a true inspiration when I step away from my casual mode. Good luck with the scarf, some great ideas here.

First of all - happy birthday, sorry we missed it!
I also was sick on my birthday - not fun at all. Sorry that you had it as bad. I guess this is the price we December born girls pay having out birthdays around the start of the flu season! :-(
Lovely outfit, you wear purple exceptionally well - and so other colors.
As for the fringe - I cut mine and then I tied the knots on each piece. Unfortunately I cannot attach the picture to this post to show you.

Kari, it's so good to see you! I'm sorry you are feeling poorly with the creeping crud. That stinks! (well, it stinks if you can *smell*)

Anyway! I love this burgundy skirt on you, with any and all tops, tights and contrasting necklaces. And I will always love you as a redhead, whatever you decide to do.
--duh! That was the fringe on your SCARF that was being discussed being dyed a different color--not your bangs! Sorry! I seem to remember both Angie and Inge are fringe cutter-offers. Maybe start a new thread to ask about that?

I love the scarf. I even like it with this outfit it adds dimension to the outfit. I can see why you feel the fringe is out of place -- its sort of a romantic, organic detail and the rest of the outfit has clean, crisp lines.

I adore the color palette -- orange with plum and gray (beautiful!) I think the way you've styled this skirt and peplum top (I am still looking for one that fits! ) is perfect for your figure and I wouldn't change a thing. The bronze purse by the way is a wonderful complement. Bravo!

so sorry you've been ill Kari but you don't look it!

Love this colour mix on you - girl, you sure do rock a peplum! As for the scarf, I recently removed the fringe from a pink scarf and then just handstiched the two ends together so they wouldn't unravel and turned it into an infinity scarf. Worked like a charm!

Queen tonal! This is a fresh, modern take color blocking, Kari. And you look great, even with a Christmas Cold. I've been dealing with one, too, but have not suffered like you. Feel better soon!

BTW -- You could easily press a narrow doubled hem and stitch along the bottom of the scarf. Altneratively, you could purchase or cut a bias strip (maybe a rich-toned satin) to bind the bottom edges.

Kari, could you dye the fringe darker by dipping it repeatedly in tea? lf it toned with the lighter brown of the scarf you'd lose the pale-contrast effect. Without the fringe the scarf waned hang funny as well as unravel.

Kari, you look sensational. I am so sorry you've been sick! And belated birthday greetings as well - I can't believe we missed you here! Can I please tell you what an inspiration you are? Your use of colour is brilliant and you wear a pencil skirt like nobody else.

Re the fringe, I am not sure what to recommend because I recently cut the fringe off a scarf that is now unravelling a bit as a result. The answer might be a line of stitching along the edge? I can see how it would look better without a fringe. But then again, I'm an anti-fringe girl (sometimes to my own detriment, apparently.)

Hope you are feeling better very soon, Know at least that you look seasonally glowing!

A week ago, I celebrated my birthday in the most wonderful way. B. and I invited close friends and family over to our place for a potluck the prior weekend, using my birthday as an excuse to finally have the housewarming that we hadn't got around to, and it was exactly what I needed - we are so blessed with the people in our lives. My sister, who is an artist, surprised me with this beautiful painting that she had been working on for the last several months - it's stunning and the colors are perfect with the tones in my living room and the tinted etchings my grandma had made that hang nearby.

On my actual birthday, B. also treated me to a fun evening of cocktails and a delicious Italian dinner, topped off with a refreshing and tasty pistachio semifreddo with candied orange peel. It was such a marvelous way to celebrate the year!

Unfortunately, my birthday also happened to be the onset of a really miserable winter cold. I made it through the dinner with B. but crawled into bed as soon as I got home, and have been quite ill ever since. I'm finally starting to recuperate, though my whole body is dry and dehydrated. So if I look a little drained here, that's why.

The photographed outfit was worn to have high tea with one of my closest friends - we live hours away from each other, but we found a tea room that is halfway between our residences that we like to meet at a couple times a year. Later on, I also made it out to a casual holiday party with our friends who live up the street.

I wore my beloved burgundy pencil skirt with an aubergine peplum top, chocolate hose, salmon beads, and purple low-heeled pumps. For extra warmth I topped it off with my gray 3/4 sleeve knit blazer and a coral/burgundy scarf B's parents gave me for my birthday. It's lovely - the scarf is very warm and patterned with bits and bridles (my mom, who used to ride horses, told me they are English bridles.)

I'm toying with removing the fringe as I'm undecided about the contrasting cream color, but since the twisted fringe is what prevents the edge of the scarf from fraying, I'm not sure that I could do this without potentially destroying the scarf. Any recommendations on this one?
