Ok, that was interesting. I tried some of the first people who came to mind for various reasons -- two musicians, a movie and Broadway character, and a baseball player, and I stumped it with Hedwig (of the Angry Inch), I think because I answered some questions vaguely. It's kind of cool how you can see the narrowing down progression in the questions.

Yes, after quite a few rounds I tried Menkaure, a pharoah from the 4th dynasty in Egypt. I thought that surely Akinator would guess him, since Menkaure's is one of the three great pyramids, but it didn't. It didn't guess Draco, either, but that is likely because little is known about his life and appearance. It appears that ancient characters are definitely not Akinator's forte, although he/it can guess Kim Kardashian in 10 questions or less!

Try Jael from the book of Judges in the Bible . Female ,killed someone, good person, did not wear armor, was real, never had a cell phone, wasn't involved in the porn industry, thing said I ran out of credits before it could guess this one. It did guess witchblade ,and Queen Esther and Sapphira though.

Yes, that is fun to play with.

I think part of what makes it work if I remember correctly is that it 'learns' from users who can enter new characters or input why an answer is incorrect. So it's kind of a crowd-sourced database or something like that. The more people play, the smarter it gets. :D

This is totally random, but have you heard of Akinator?
http://en.akinator.com/personn.....Gold%20Bug

It is an online "Genie" who asks you questions about the character you are thinking of. He guesses real-life figures (authors, actors, politicians, etc.), book characters, comic book characters, movie characters, video game characters - almost anything. And he is uncannily accurate.

On very rare occasion he has to ask two rounds of questions before homing in on the correct character, but he has guessed every character I've thought up - from Goldbug in the Richard Scarry children's books, to Booga from the comic book Tank Girl. I didn't think things could get much more obscure than that.

Anyway, I know the program isn't brand new, but it is fun to play with! Have a go at it and see if the Genie can guess who you are thinking of!
