I never liked to run either -- but my doctor told me to walk 30 minutes every day to lower my cholesterol. I got bored with walking and started running. The only reason I got to this point is that I started running once a week with two guys who are good runners. The peer pressure made me keep working at it! I will never run a marathon (too much pain!) -- but the 5K (3 miles) is just enough to be an accomplishment and still be enjoyable.

Aha, that is why I hadn't seen you around here. Glad you were having fun with family, which I think is the best type of fun. Congrats on the 5K! Big accomplishment!

Hi AJ, congrats on running your first fiver. My husband has been trying to talk me into running a 5K with him, but he runs 5 miles daily. I'm a wimp.

I couldn't see teh cropped cardi on the Mango site? It went right to the main page. Glad you had fun shopping and visiting.

I love your hair cut--are you letting it grow?

I visited my mom and brother in the Bay Area, California this past weekend. It was a fun-filled weekend (although I was sorry to miss the Seattle YLF get-together).

This is what I wore on Sunday morning -- and I'm very proud to be wearing this t-shirt because I ran my first ever race, the Silicon Valley 5K. My goal was to run the whole route , which I did (VERY slowly!). My brother ran the marathon so he is sporting his marathon finisher's medal.
http://s514.photobucket.com/al.....G_1216.jpg

On Monday, my mom and I made a "shopping sprint" into San Francisco. It's an hour and 15 minute train ride into the city from where my brother lives. We slept in so we ended up taking a 2 1/2 hour train trip for 2 hours and 50 minutes in the city (we had to get back in time for me to get to the airport). My goal was to go to Zara. The one on Market St. is not too far from the train station so my mom and I went straight there. It was in a mall with a Bloomingdale's and several other stores I would have like to shop at, but we only made it through Zara and Mango.

I was hyper-critical of everything I tried on since I knew I couldn't return anything easily from Seattle. I did buy a red turtleneck sweater with buttons on the sleeves at Zara (it's like Antje's cardigan -- when I saw the buttons, I recognized the sweater from her fall outfits post). I think it will be a good layering piece since I'll be spending the winter in a cold climate (more to come on that later).

I also bought this cropped cardigan at Mango in wine (couldn't get the color to show on the web site).
http://www.mangoshop.com/zoomP.....;idioma=US

Edit: I tried to get a link that works but kept getting the main page. Photos to come when I have a chance to make some outfits with it.

My mom's birthday is this week so my sister and I wanted to buy her some clothes -- she got black cords, a brown turtleneck sweater, a brown v-neck pullover sweater and a green turtleneck sweater at Zara. She said that she felt very hip to be buying clothes there at 68 years old!

I didn't wear any new outfits so no photos. I did wear my brown Privo flats for the shopping trip and discovered that they are truly comfortable shoes. We walked 30 minutes from my brother's house to the train station, were on our feet for three hours in the city, and walked 30 minutes back from the train station -- and my feet didn't hurt at all. This is especially amazing since they were sore from the run the day before when I first got up in the morning. I might have to invest in another pair!
