Wow. If you ever have the opportunity to see one of his exhibits I can't recommend it highly enough. His work is highly political but also aesthetically pleasing and layered with meaning. Is the personal still political? Regardless, here I stand in the middle of his works (we also have tons of gorgeous pictures without me in them )</p> <p>Anyhow, these are just a taste of his work and the exhibition. (All interpretations are loosely derived from the museum's notes.)<br />1,2 "Trees" made from deadwood and assembled using a traditional Chinese method without glue or visible joints. Bolts were added to allude to the artificial vs. manmade construction.<br />3,4 Lego reconstruction his photos of breaking of an ancient vase, placed at the end of a room made up of porcelain&nbsp;handmade sunflower seeds. I cannot go into all the levels of symbolism here, but encourage anyone interested to google!<br />5 One of several amazing wallpapers, this one made up the IOUs he issued to his supporters who rallied to pay a huge tax fine he was assessed under outrageous circumstances.<br />6 Soft ground - a carpet replica of the tiled floor of a Nazi art gallery (to grossly oversimplify). We had to put on protective foot coverings or take off our shoes to walk on it.</p> <p>My outfit is all second hand: Yohji Yamamoto jacket, Dooney &amp; Burke wine holder tote, Current Elliot cropped jeans, random and poorly tied scarf, Italian boots, name forgotten.<br />Thanks for looking!
