JAileen, yes, it's a similar expression (of South African origin, I believe), meaning "wishing you luck".

Angie, the length of the AGL was fine, but the vertical height of the toe box was too low, too cramped for my curling big toes.

Thanks for making a find. I need to learn to do that.

Inge, thanks. Is holding thumbs the same as fingers crossed? I've never heard that before.

RWS, I feel for you. I wear a 10 and it's no walk in the park. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to gets 11s.

GF and Firecracker, thank you for your suggestions.

I just ordered another pair of silver oxfords: Summit White Mountain Dawson from Zappos.

Try Waldläufer--they had both black patent and silver patent models with a bit of a platform. They're not available at Norstrom's, though. I got them through Tip Top shoes in NYC.

Bummer -- it's a beautiful shoe! I have trouble with pointy toed shoes too, and at size 11 sizing up is typically neither possible nor even desirable. Hopefully you'll find another brand that's similar that works for you!

After realizing the Louise et Cie Adelise silver oxford was too narrow, I thought I would give the AGL grey patent oxford a try. I went up 1/2 size and it was too cramped in the toe, height wise. My big toes curl up, so this isn't a rare problem for me. I'm not sure the next size up would fit any better, and it's a moot point anyway, since it's out of stock. It looks like a very nice shoe.
