Thanks, Donna. I will check those Kates, if they're on sale it's even better.
I tried the Big Star Joeys but I had major gaping with those. Finding jeans other than most NYDJs is not easy.

Hi, Joyce;

I noticed that your profile page says you like NYDJ, and that brand also tends to fit me pretty well since I am some type of hourglass/pear hybrid (I think!) with a flar booty. After trying them on in the store, I just ordered Big Star Kates from Zappos and Nordies (recently on sale at both), so I'm wondering if that brand/style might fit you. This is my new foray into a lower rise -- a grand 8" or so, but still considered mid-rise. Quite a few styles of Big Stars just went on sale at Nordies, but I only tried the Kates because I wanted a faded straight leg. I pretty much need a 14" width or more due to my heavy legs, and found the Kates quite flattering. I am a P2 in skirts but seem to be a P4 in most jeans so I got the P26s.

Thanks, Angie. I will go for the smaller size and wear it at home initially.
Also, thanks to everyone else as well for your input and your help with this. You are all very patient and a fabulous group!

Thanks, Angie. The one lower on the hip is the 28 in the 7-10. The 27 is the 4-6 and 1-3 is the 28.
If I squat with the 28 I show butt.
27 was better in that respect but felt tight. Do you think the 27 will stretch? Or should I just forget about it and return the 28 (the 27 I returned already, but I can re-order).
I think Rachy made a good point.
Also, thanks Shiny for the detailed reply.

I can sit & squat and do all that without a problem. I still need a longer top but to make sure no belly is showing. As I said, my rear is fairly flat/boyish, so perhaps that is the difference? (If I could just move all the squishy jiggly stuff in my belly to my rear ... )

I usually do best with jeans that are nearly the same rise in back as in front - but the Nikki's are an exception and I am not sure why that is. It may be the yoke drop is not very extreme? Maybe that measurement makes the difference whether you are boyish or have more booty?

Thanks LeopardLuxe. The composition of the Stilts has a higher poly mix than the Nikkis which are 98% cotton, but cotton does stretch. Maybe I should go back to the smaller size then.
Thanks Shiny, I will try adding pictures tonight. I did try putting them lower on my hip but then my butt falls off when I sit. I think the back rise needs to be placed higher than the front. I will check it out tonight again.
Your Nikkis look very nice on you from your post.
So, if the Nikkis are meant to be lower, how do you sit or squat and not show butt? Do they just require longer tops?
How about the kind of underwear that works best under them, excuse my ignorance, because mine do show.

It's hard to tell in the photos -- are they gaping in the back because you are hiking them up higher than they are meant to rest? They are meant to be pretty low. When I wear mine, they are resting pretty much on my hip bone, and the crotch point is even dropped a little. Also that drops the rear down as well, making it baggier (but I'm fairly flat/boyish there anyway). If I hiked them up higher, so the crotch point wasn't dropped at all, they'd also gape in the back on me.

I am wondering if that's what's going on with the fit here? Can you scooch the waistband down any lower? If yes, try that and take more pictures for us!

If not -- if you can't scooch them down at all, then my suggestion is actually to size up one more time... unless it's too much of a hassle. It would be interesting to compare. (And that's why I vastly prefer trying on jeans in B&M stores!).

I have several pairs of AG jeans and because of the polyester content combined with the cotton they stretch ALOT. They run a bit small but I've found that because they stretch so much I usually end up buying my normal size even though it feels too snug when I first put them on. I have a pair that are a size above normal that are comfortable when I first put them on but stretch so much within an hour of wear that I could literally pull them down without unzipping and that I have to wear with a belt (they're the stilt rollup model so they actually work well as more of a slouchy boyfriend jean at the larger size).

So I'd recommend going with your normal size and avoid putting them in the dryer so you don't have to spend as much time waiting for them to stretch out to a more comfortable fit. Hope this info helps!

Thanks so much, ladies.
Abc and Shevia, fixing the back may be an option, or just returning...
Suz, agree, it's hard to show any picture details in Winter, plus this was taken at night, sorry that they were not the best pictures. I need to research how to do that better.
Alaskagirl, your Nikkis look lovely on you.
CocoLion, thanks for giving me a touch of reality with your comment about premium jeans. You are so right.
Also, thanks for the link. I will check the Levi's out. hoping for no gaping in the next size.
I will test drive my Nikkis again this evening. I love the legs but I am not happy about the gaping. I like thin belts but I find the thick ones very
uncomfortable.
Decisions... Decisions... The return policy is not as good as Nordies' .
Every time I shop elsewhere I further appreciate "my" (I wish!) Nordstrom.

It's a bit tough to see the details, Joyce -- drat, it can be so difficult taking decent pictures of darker items in winter light!! From what I can see here they look good, but it sounds as if you are not comfortable in them. Maybe wear them a bit around the house?

I just got the next size of Nikkis. My real size was too tight but did not gape. This is the next size. The legs are comfortable but the rise is kind of low and the back gapes around 2-3". With a little effort I can take them off without unzipping. For me they would probably not work without a belt. If they stretch I'm in trouble. Maybe I should have kept the smaller size.
Do you guys know if they stretch?
I am test driving them but maybe they are not for me. That's why I wear mom jeans, I need a higher rise.
They did look very nice on all the other ladies who posted their pictures, that's why I became interested in the Nikkis.
I will appreciate your opinions.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I am adding picts of the previous size below. They are not the best but they are all the photos I have from before I returned them. They gaped about 1" in the waist and I returned them. 4-6 in the smaller, tighter size.
Thanks for your help.
---------------------------------------------------
I am adding picts of the larger size placed a bit lower on the hip, as per Angie's request. (7-10).
8 from side showing where my waist is, 10 showing gaping when I sit.
Thanks again.
