Check and see if your camera has a "macro" setting. That helps tremendously when taking close up pictures.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I am not able to afford a new camera, but I will utilize your suggestion with the camera that I do have and will let you know how/see how the results come out.

Hi Kathleen, if you cannot afford a photographer, you will need to take some time to really learn how to capture the beauty of your jewelry in photos, to attract customers.
My mother is an artist and she is also quite a good photographer. She pays a photographer to capture images of her art work knowing that it will only come across to potential buyers if it comes across well in the photo.
Cameras are amazing these days. What kind of camera do you have now? Why do you think you are not taking successful pictures?
I see some jewelry sellers putting their products on dark velvet which makes the jewelry pop. Do you have an old coat in the closet made of a fabric that might work this way?
Can you utilize a living room lamp to put right nest to your jewelry for more light?
Keep practicing and see what you come up with. Perhaps you can find tutorials on line for taking great pictures.

yup, that's also exactly what I said in the previous post.

You may need a new camera eventually, but in the meantime try to use natural light. If you can, take your pictures in your backyard or porch. If you can't take your pictures outdoors, choose a spot in your house that has the most natural light. It makes a huuuuge difference in the pictures.

Also, all cameras have auto-zoom. When you half-press the shutter (i.e. pressing down the button only halfway), the camera zooms to an object. Use this to make sure that the camera is zooming on the jewelry.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Maya. You may need to invest in a better camera.

My first thought was that it's very hard to actually see the jewelry? I think the background is too dark and the pictures are kind of blurry. The jewelry itself looks lovely from what I can see, but the photography isn't doing it justice.

Hey Everyone,

I am asking you guys for help, because you are the only ones that I trust.

As you saw from my earlier post, I recently took the first step to begin selling some of my jewelry creations. I have gotten a store at ArtFire: http://www.artfire.com/users/artisticantique.

Also, today, I bought one of these to use when taking photos; http://www.thunderbirdsupply.c.....312002.jpg.

I need advice for taking the pictures ... well any pictures really. I am not a photographer, and am horrible at it!

Also, I need someone to make me a graphic for the studio front on ArtFire. I cannot afford to pay said person in money, but I will make you (or give you from one that I have already made) jewelry ... your choice of what you would like.

Please, let me know.

Thank you & hope everyone is well!

Kathleen
