I don't have any particularly new ideas to add (I was going to suggest s 3/4 sleeve button down, and also trying it with a regular button-down). I think it's a really great jacket, though. I want it!

Sinead, I think you should definitely try a button down, though I'd try one with full length sleeves.

I'd also try a long-sleeve v-neck top, and then either a pretty necklace, or -if the v is small- maybe a little scarf.

Also, I think the jacket would also work without sleeves peeking out, but then I'd experiment with different necklines of the top. E.g., maybe you could try a v-neck sleeveless top with a necklace.

I'd say experiment with more options and post back some pictures!

Thanks Chris and Shana- I definitely plan to wear a necklace with the black silk top- just need to find the right one. The one in the other photo is ok with it, but not great.

And Inge, rolling the sleeves over this jacket won't work because they're slightly kimono style (which I love) otherwise that would be a great look. But- what do you think about a button down with 3/4 sleeves? I'll try it and post if it looks iffy.

Hi Sinead

I would love to see it paired with a button-down shirt (maybe you could roll up the sleeves and 'fold them over' the sleeves of the jacket, that is a fun and modern look). Do you have a button-down in a brighter colour, stripes...?

I like the silk top but would add something at neckline to draw eye up to your smile. When I am interviewing someone, I look for an overall professional, put together look more than anything. I always want to focus on the smile/eye contact anyway.

What a great jacket! Maybe someone "hid" it in the XL section?? It was a good thing that you made the effort to dig around!

I also prefer it with the turtleneck but how much longer can you get away with a turtleneck (weatherwise)? It looks O.K. with the silk knit top - just needs an accessory - why not try the same necklace that you wore with the turtleneck? I don't think this jacket would work with a l/s button down just because the sleeves would look weird - it's fine with something knitted and tight fitting on the arm like the turtleneck but I don't know if it will work otherwise.

Thanks, Antje. I had been looking for a blazer that was a little more stylish and thrifted this last week. It was tucked away in the XL section of coats (it's a small) so this has taught me to check everywhere in resale shops. I keep finding great things in the wrong section.

I would love to hear some suggestions on other ways to wear this- would a button down work underneath, or look weird with the sleeves sticking out?

Sinead, the jacket absolutely works, and I prefer it with the turtleneck. I like the sleeves peeking out, and I like the necklace you wear with it.

I'm in need of a decent interview outfit in the hopes I will, at some point, actually get an interview, and I'd like your opinion on this Trina Turk jacket I found. I have it with a plain silk knit top in one photo and a black turtleneck in another. Which one works better, if either one does work? I plan to accessorize with a silver chain for the knit top, once I find one. I know this is boring, but I have to shop my closet right now and the pickin's are slim. The jacket is a subtle plaid with a little pink running through it, but wearing it with a pink shirt just sounds too... pink. And what do you think about the jacket?
