I recently purchased the GAP real straight white jeans -- they fit me surprisingly well. And I have both the GAP crop in the mid-tone denim and the white upstairs in my dressing area trying to decide what works and what doesn't. I think they fit a little differently from one another -- at least to my eye. I much preferred the white crops. I haven't decided about the blue ones

I tried the Kut Reese as well and they are beautiful, but preferred the GAP on my body.

Look for jeans made of 98% cotton and 2% spandex, this blend does not cling that much to the skin (at least in my experience). Also I do think that bootcut or straight jeans fit better, and fit is everything when you're talking about white denim.

Here's some back story...

Weeks ago, I ordered these jeans, find #1, in my usual size. Weird in white, terrific in denim. Returned the denim (too nearly a duplicate)
and ordered the size up in white. Per Diana, may actually need a size down instead. Waiting.

Found these Gap jeans, find #2, in the 1969 series, a real favorite
fit. Ordered a size up (they’re white, right?) in straight-legs. Oh, wait!
There’s a crop kick flare in white, find #3, and pale summer denim, #4? Ordered them. Waiting.

Hit the mall tonight. Ugh. Nothing at J.Jill (limp, clingy per Rabbit’s and Diane’s comments, above) or H & M (stiff, obviously off grain); not worth the necessary alteration. Nordie’s had nothing in my size.

Per Angie’s instructions, ordered these, find # 5, tonight. Because of Nordstom’s return policy, I was emboldened to order these, find #6, too. (Thanks, ElCee. Rememberthe forum frenzy over the Catherine BFs way back when? I never tried the missy sizes, but repeated experiments with the plus ones failed. Maybe the smaller size range will work?) Waiting.

I bought a pair of skinny cords that did that. I tried a size smaller, and it's not nearly as bad.

Just thought of another option. A friend of mine swears by Chico's jeans and has a very nice pair of white ankle jeans from them that fit her beautifully. I believe that she is a size 14. Their sizing is not standard -- but they do accommodate larger sizes. For example -- As a standard 16-18, I would be a size 3 in their sizing. I have not tried their brand as they do not offer tall sizes. Here is a link:

With me it has been hit or miss with white jeans. Like Diana mentioned, a lot of the bunching and wrinkling issues have to do with the fabrication. I also find that the wrong rise can cause bad whiskering wrinkles.

Have you tried KUT from the Kloth? I like them for my curvier body. They carry up to size 16, but I find that they sometimes run a size large. I normally take a size 18, but their 16 often fits me just fine.
http://www.kutfromthekloth.com.....-9327.html

I have also had periodic success with Eddie Bauer and Old Navy for white jeans. I like the Old Navy Skinny Boyfriends -- I can go down one size on those. They are not showing any non-distressed white jeans right now… but I am sure they will soon. Regarding Eddie Bauer -- I find that their jeans are true to size. They carry up to size 20.

In my experience, it's the fabric composition more often than not that causes this. It's more obvious in lighter colors. Anyway, I think denim that is too soft or too stretchy will do this in a style with some ease like straights or slouchy skinnies because it wants to cling and conform to your legs. A very tight skinny won't do this as much because the fabric has to stretch to conform so there's no extra room.In your case, I think going up a size might actually make it WORSE, because there will be more extra fabric.

It also annoys me because it feels weird and clingy. I've gotten rid of jeans that otherwise fit nicely and looked good because of this. Now I try to stick to lower stretch denims because I think they hang on the body much better.

ETA: A thicker fabric sometimes also helps mitigate the problem.

You know, I've had no luck with white jeans that don't end up having obvious wrinkling unless they are tight stretchy jeggings -- and even those seem to do it after awhile. I feel like it's something about the fabric formulations and color that creasing is both more visible, and anything not form fitting is more clingy/warpy than blue or black denim. Like how white chocolate isn't really the same thing as chocolate. I just live with it because I really like the color as part of an outfit.

I secretly think they just photoshop blur the fronts in all the stock photos of white jeans, but I'm eager to read if someone else has found a magic bullet jean that doesn't do this.

Do Loft jeans work for you or is the sizing wrong? The loft jeans I have aren't too bad right after they are washed, and they are a nice bright optic white (but still rumple pretty fast after wearing awhile).

So the white jeans arrived today and they're one wrinkle after another! The clay jeans (pictured) are a different fabric and look a little better.

When jeans fall into diagonal wrinkles mid-thigh to mid-calf, does that mean they're too large, too small, or something else altogether? I just purged last summer's white straight-legs for exactly that reason, and they were way too big (two sizes larger than what I ordinarily buy, in a brand that runs big, and they seemed to be cut on straight grain). These are one of my usual sizes in one of my usual brands (NYDJ), and these wrinkles are an un-fun surprise (#2 current straight-legs for comparison).

What do you suggest? Order both in the next size? Live with the clay and reorder the white? Other US brands/retailers that offer larger missy and smaller plus sizes? Has anyone compared the Gap crop flares in white with the ones in denim? Could the Gap white 1969 straight-legs work cropped? Maybe I need to radically take in the waists of jeans from Talbots and J.Jill and just learn to live with how they stretch out?

Thanks for your help!
