Glory, once when I had the calves of boots taken in, the cobbler messed up and made one calf waaaaay smaller than the other. I don't know exactly what he did, but when I took them back, he stretched it so they're now even.

If you don't want to attempt it, take it to a cobbler. I'm pretty sure they just put some liquid stretcher on it and then use a device like this: http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum.....B000PON49U

Glory, is it flat leather, right? I've seen a lot of boots stretched. If you need a lot of stretch and don't think you'll be able to get your foot in it at all, check to see if there is a western wear store near you. They have special machines for stretching boots, and can probably help you. If you think you are close to getting them on, then you might be able to get them on (and stretching via wear) by putting your foot into a thin plastic bag like a sock and slipping it into the boot. Crazy, but it often works.

Try using a cotton ball to put a little rubbing alcohol on the inside of the shaft where you want it to stretch. Then put the boot on and walk around in it. I've never had to loosen a shaft, but I've used this technique to stretch out the toe area of shoes that were a bit tight.

Hi all. One of my new Veronica Slouch boots is smaller on the calf than the other. They are not returnable. Has anyone successfully stretched a boot? I need it to be about 1/2 inch wider.
