bj1111, thank you for encouragement. I will keep it, they are inexpensive and might be fun to play with. I tried a couple of outfits and like it, well, kind of like it I’m my climate, it will be 5 months before I can wear it.

I wonder how many people’s “canvas” shoes contain the polyster, and they don’t realize it because, as you say, it sure looks like cotton! For the environment, recycled polyester is a double win. Assuming they aren’t a big budget line for you, I’d say go ahead and wear them, and think of it as canvas.

Thank you, Janet. It was a spontaneous purchase. I only found out about recycled polyester when I looked close inside a shoe at the printed description. The fabric looks and feels like canvas.
I’ll do more research before committing.

I don’t have experience with that particular fabrication, but I tend to wear no-show or regular socks with my old Cons, which I think were all canvas.

If you really want a fabrication that is super breathable and comfortable, I found the Shoreline knit style to be extremely comfy and well fitting right out of the box, no socks required (my feet are slightly low volume and sometimes need insoles or socks to fill out Cons and other sneakers). I think the color offerings are a little limited at the moment, but I got them in turquoise and I am keeping my eyes peeled in the spring for new colors.

Thanks Lisa and Runcarla. I intend to wear barefoot as these will be more spring- early summer shoes.
I remain undecided, maybe I should push myself a little

I have a couple of pair right now, and have owned a few more over the years. I do agree that they can make feet look bigger - which is the source of my like/hate relationship with them. They aren't exactly the most sophisticated shoes but are fun for casual looks. I think mine are straight up canvas though - nothing in them says polyester to me. Can't say I've ever noticed excess sweating, and I always wear them barefoot except for a winter pair that are sequinned in parts.

I have no experience with the polyester fabric top, but I am a Converse convert - having fallen for them in my late 50’s - and love the style. I’ve had 2 pair where the canvas fabric is treated with a coating (silver and iridescent respectively) that acted like a seal. Feet didn’t get sweaty in these. I don’t think the polyester fabric would be any different then gortex used in hiking boots and sneakers, or possibly Rothys?

Are you planning to wear them barefoot or with socks?

Bought a pair of Converse today. My first pair. I’m not normally drawn to Converse shoes. I like them enough but often concern that they look too big on me. These ones kind of OK or my eyes got used to them, since they are everywhere. And they works so well with my light color clothes.
But the canvas parts are made from recycled polyester. Would I sweat too much in them?
Any advice? If you have similar Converse shoes, can you share your experience?
