If you are happy to wear pumps in winter, I don't see why these will not work for you. I see these as being able to be styled with winter clothing, it is just that the openness will not be as warm as regular boots or provide coverage for your feet in the rain. And ditto what Suz said about the heel.</p> <p>I've always been perplexed by the booties with cut outs. I prefer them without socks so since I live in four seasons for me these would be early fall and late spring or the unusual cool summer days/nights. But, I think if you went with the darker pair you can do a darker sock or tight underneath and it wouldn't look off. But I wear them only in summer (nude booties with nude leg) or transitional season (with low socks inside). In winter the foot gets too cold even with socks. Id wear with nude to me socks, so the texture shows, but still have warmth. If I purchased them, I'd likely buy them in the grey. But my real question is HOW to wear them. I could probably wear them with black tights that would create a low contrast between the boot and foot/leg, but is a person supposed to wear contrasting tights or socks? Or are they only spring and summer shoes that I'd look ridiculous wearing in the fall/winter anyway?
