I agree with just treating it like what it is: a blanket or throw. I'd enjoy it while it was in good shape and let it go when it got worn out. If I wanted to hang onto the photos, I'd get digital copies of them so I could have prints made or add them to the rest of my photos.

Would you consider purchasing a quilt rack for it? There are several styles from vintage to modern. Something along these lines:

Yes, I have made photo blankets for people via Shutterfly. I made one for my niece using her and her fiance's baby photos and then one of them from the wedding. They keep it on a bed in their spare bedroom.

I have made one for my friend when she turned 50, using photos from all the major events in her life and she has hers hanging on a huge wall in her family room surrounded by other framed photos.

And finally, I made one for my DH with photos of our dog. He uses that all time time and it has held up very well.

Thanks for all your replies. I would love a collage of regular photos to put up on a wall, but I realize that this is just too big and too fuzzy. Missvee. we are in a single story with not a railing in sight, except for the back fence. An idea for when we redo our drought-stricken yard later this year?

Peri and cjh, I think I will use it as a chair or sofa throw. I'll have to go through the house and find the right place for it. We don't have a lot of wall space--one of the reasons we bought this house is because of all the windows and openness.

Rachy, the folks pictured in blanket is my posterity. I think I will do what I do when I want to share with family, post it on Facebook. (Better than all the tiresome political stuff being posted now.)

I have a beautiful but small Laurel Burch print quilt that DH bought at a fundraiser. Maybe I will get that out too. I've been saving it from the cats, but then I don't get to look at it.

Thanks for the suggestions and for help in thinking in broader categories.

You don't want to save it for prosperity? My mum had all her wedding things in a special box that I used to love to look through as a little girl.

Could you drape it over a railing, maybe in an upstairs hall? That way you'd see it as you pass by. My other thought ( and it's not a very good one I'm afraid ) was to drape it over a table or a bench but then you'd need a piece of plexiglass over it.

I echo Peri. Just snuggle it. Use it for a couch throw, or put in the back of your car for picnics, etc. Perhaps put in a pillow case to keep the cats off, or allow them to enjoy it, too! IMO, quilting and hanging wouldn't enhance the sweet memory effect, and I am a quilter.

Well, no one has answered...I will try. I read this when you posted and frankly I'm stymied. I've never heard of such a thing.

I'd use it for what it is...a blanket. Snuggle up it in when it is cold and be warmed by happy memories. Fold it over the edge of a couch or lay it across the foot of your bed. For me, I so wouldn't want it hanging on a wall!

This was a Christmas present, but it wasn't done in time and just arrived recently. It is a lightweight fleece blanket with photos of three weddings--just a couple from the Oct 31 wedding made it in. It is 40" x 60". At first we thought of making it into a wall hanging, but we don't have a good space for it except a dark hallway. My friend, the quilter, said that some people have them quilted. I could see stitching around the edges of the photos. I would hire a local quilter.

It is very soft and we have two black cats who love soft napping places. (A few weeks ago they took over my old cashmere shawl that I left on a chair.) So I wouldn't want to drape it over a chair or sofa.

1 Here it is, hanging by an edge from the taller mantle, and some of the photos closer up.

2 is from the Giraffe (Zoo) wedding and one of my favorites. I want to get this one printed and framed.

3 is my son escorting me down the aisle at the 2014 wedding that was held at a beautiful golf club. Upper left is from the rehearsal dinner for that one. Lower left is one we do have printed and framed. Middle is from the October wedding--the whole family.

4 is a variety. DH officiated at all three weddings. My son and I at the Zoo wedding in the middle.

5 Two families combined. A couple of the little boys are missing here.

Give me your thoughts and ideas please. I've never seen one of these before--did I mention that I love it?
