Thank you ladies! I think I will order the both skirts and a floral dress today and will see what happens!
Tanya, I have been looking for a good quality jersey dressesand skirts which are not too thick and did not find anything so far. Any "hunting grounds" you can share? :-)
Peri, only sleeveless for me! To much arm lifting and stretching for sleeves. Dancing is the only social activity when there is no danger to freeze in a sleeveless dress even in winter or with blasting AC! :-)
This floral dress says "dry clean" but it is 100% poly so I don't see a reason why it cannot be washed. Fingers crossed it fits: I need a non-black dress for our Closing Season Gala in May!

Love everything, except perhaps the pink dress, for the reasons you mentioned! I actually prefer the hem in the polyester skirt. I also think the dress would cross pretty high on the chest the way it's constructred -- which should make it a lovely, face framing look for you! The halter dress is my definite favorite!

Chiming in on the dry-cleaning issue...really impractical for dance wear! And I tend to find sleeveless the most useful, since I get so hot, so you are on the right track with your sleeveless choices here. The other thing about sleeves is it is so hard to find ones that don't make the whole top ride up when you raise to dance frame. You definitely don't want to spend the evening tugging your top back down.

I think either skirt would be great, depending on washability. The thing about seeing the same people all the time is that they are in the same boat. Having a basic neutral base that you wear often and vary with different tops is the perfect dance solution. Everyone I know proceeds this way!

For special, I think that floral dress would be fantastic on you!

#1 and 4 look perfect for ballroom dancing Sveta and the colours would suit you. They have beautiful drape, lots of movement and attractiveness. I can picture you in #3 but as Nebraskim said, it may be a bit short. It is really lovely and sophisticated, and I'd give it a try anyway.
As for the other two...and no offense....I'm not a fan of handkerchief hems and the blush dress is pretty but frankly, it seems a bit prissy for you, in colour, design and detail.
Tanya's suggestion of quality jersey fabric dresses is a sound one and worth looking in to also.

I really like the patterned halter dress. It would be different and give you more variety in your capsule. You say your current dress is 39.5" but you're wondering if the navy lace dress would be too short at the same length. Do you feel the current dress is too short? It's knee length so looks plenty long enough to me unless it's a dance issue.

I am 5-7 and find dresses that are 39.5 to be just barely long enough for me. I don't have particularly long legs and am pretty evenly proportioned. The fullness of the skirt may make up for length, however. The dresses here are all so pretty.

I agree that they're all worth trying. I especially love that patterned dress too, and I think that's a nice vibrant change of pace from the darker and more solid color pieces.

Oh, I LOVE the patterned halter dress. That dress would be totally adjustable at the neckline from the look of it, and anyway, the V is not deep. If it were available in my size I would be tempted to try myself even though I do not wear any dance dresses!! Please try it.

I also adore the silk skirt, but it might be a good idea to try both. The lace dress is also very pretty. I am less keen on the pink on simply because it looks a bit too stiff.

He he Sveta, you have now discovered the reason for my ever-so-growing dance capsule. It is always the same people, isn't it?
I love the items you already own. From the ones you show, I love the first, silk skirt and the patterned dress. The lace dress is gorgeous, does not look too short.
If possible, I would also recommend you to find some dressier items made from good quality jersey. I find jersey the most comfortable material to dance in as it moves with you and also very easy to take care of, just wash and go, which can not be said for silk, and dancing usually means some amount of sweating. I have a fit and flare black jersey skirt that is my fall-back item for dance parties.

I think they're all worth trying. As you know, the measurements given on the websites aren't always accurate, so the pink Tahari just might be long enough.
I love the floral print dress - something a bit different and great for the warmer weather. And you can't go wrong with a swishy black skirt on the dance floor!

I would like to have YLF wise advice on some potential purchases. I really need to add to my dance capsule because I have one dress, 2 skirts and 3 tops for the dancing parties. We have dance socials 2-3 times a month with mostly the same people so I begin to feel that this capsule is too small!
With outrageous exchange rate I am trying to shop locally which is not easy. Here is what I found on The Bay website and before ordering to try I would like to have your advice on them.
The pictures are of the dress and skirts I am using now -to give you idea what I already have.
pic #1 is a silk sleeveless dress in black / white pattern
pic #2 is flared mixed media skirt in charcoal grey with silver threads.
pic #3 is flared b/w polka dot skirt.
The last 2 lace shells in the finds are the tops I currently have and use with these skirts.
Here is what I consider:
1. I want to add a new lightweight skirt with asymmetric hem because it moves beautifully during the dance. #1 in finds is silk and #2 is polyester. I am kind of drawn to #1 more because of the hi-low style - and because it is silk. What do you think?
2. #3 is navy lace dress. My concern is the length - it says 39.5". This is what y current dress length is - too short? Worth a try?
3. I am really attracted to #4 because it is completely different and colorful. My concerns - V-neck and wrap style which are not the best for me. On the other hand it has a side zipper so maybe wrap part can be sewn so it does not gap on me? Thoughts?
4. I also really like this pink Tahari dress. My concerns that it may be not my best color and the style is pretty similar to the dress I already have. The length is longer though - 41"

I would really appreciate your input on these for me. Thanks a lot!
