That doesn't mean that there aren't younger readers enjoying them, just that if one isn't sure the nine year old is an advanced reader, they might be a bit frustrating.</p> <p>And FWIW, classics are great, but kids are aware of the popularity of books the same way they are aware of the popularity of video games, movies, television and other media. So, unfortunately, sometimes the classic books are less favored among younger kids than newer, more popular series.
