Thanks, Jules. That's a good solution if I need to buy dresses - they won't just be for the trip.

I haven't been to France in many years. But if you decide to buy anything in addition to your shorts, may I suggest simple dresses, perhaps worn with a comfortable underlayer like slipshorts? I think that'd be easier than building skirt and top ensembles from scratch (I'm also short-waisted and never tuck). I personally find the dress/bike short combo to be the most comfortable option in humid heat - no heavy waistband, no thigh rub.

I have the chance to go to France for 3 weeks in July, with the time spent between Nice/the French Riviera and Provence. It will be hot, and I don't have skirts (and the shorter tops I would need with skirts.)
My summer bottoms are bermuda shorts because I bike everywhere in the summer.
I have an IT body type with a large bust, short waist, thicker middle-aged middle, narrow hips, good legs. I don't tuck, ever.
If you've been to the south of France, what is your advice? Are bermudas okay? (I know I won't get arrested for wearing shorts, but I don't want to be embarrassed.)
