Love!!

And yes, that's the style...I had a pair of cognac Aerosoles, believe it or not, and a pair that were similar, I think, from Roots, and at one point I had a black pair. I love the style and always have.

I just bought these Campers, which are not exactly the same but a similar idea.

Well, the style is a really classic style. I remember having something like it in the 90s and I loved it. Then for years, the only company that seemed to be making something similar was Rag and Bone and they cost Arm and Leg, so I never bought them. But this year I am seeing more versions of them, though admittedly not in blue.

I would also love a pair of blue sandals and am considering options.

Jenni, I was thinking more age-appropriateness when I made that comment. I wouldn't dream of wearing mini-skirts at my current age. I still remember the "rule" that the skirt couldn't be shorter than our fingertips! LOL

Meanwhile, I wear a lot of the same styles I did in grad school - I went to a university that was in the Pantheon of Prep, and those styles are pretty much age-less and timeless.

Yes, well, think I said once on the forum that when I said to a woman in a shoe shop about 2011 that I loved my feet because they were the only part of me that hadn't got fatter, she shook her head and said "women are so hard on themselves". And since then, as per Annagybe's thread about All this Body Talk, I have managed to reduce the self- criticism. But I still relate to what you say. Apart from not managing high heels ( mind you I never wore them all that high) I have no foot problems and can still wear the same cute things I liked back then. What shoes I like feels very true to my style essence.

Don't you just hate it when someone asks for advice and then disappears from the conversation for a day? My half-***ed excuse is having gnarly dental work done.

Suz and Jenni, when I am honest with myself, the real reason I love those Vince sandals is because they are virtually identical to a pair of Pappagallos that I dearly loved and could not afford in probably about 1973. But in suede - even better! And even less practical! Truly, in this year of trying to concentrate my wardrobe dollars on everyday clothing, they are not actually what I should be acquiring. So good thing they did not fit.
Smittie, I agree that style-wise the Kork-ease Tutsi are maybe 1/2 step up from Birks, which is probably about what I need.
LaP, those Camper sandals are really cute - does that brand fit your foot? Everytime I got to NYC I find myself walking past one of their stores and get totally sucked in. I like the black Kork-ease sandals you are trying. And have my fingers crossed that the Everlanes work out for you - they are truly sharp-looking!
Greyscale, thanks for the links - I really like some of those mules. Of course, I'd really love a pair of the MNZs you mention, but those are outside the budget for sure!
DonnaF, I have one pair of lace-up ghillies and love them - so easy to adjust them on the feet since they lace up.
Donna, I'm guessing we do have very different feet - Earth is another brand that doesn't work so well for me. I do like the bootie-esque look of the ones you have!
Firecracker, I think you are right that a darker denim shoe would be a good option. Thanks for the amazing selection - I'll take a look at some of those!
SaraL, yes, it is definitely the color that is holding me back.
JAileen, I haven't worn Kork-Ease in years, but loved the basic platforms back in the day, and had a second pair at some point (late '90s, early "00s?) when they briefly had a resurgence.
JuniperGreen, I was not familiar with Pons - those are pretty cool looking!

I have much to ponder here. And in the meantime, a pair of my go-to Bernardo Matrix in Navy has popped up on Ebay in my size at a good price. <sigh> When it comes to summer footwear, I seem to be stuck on wanting to wear the same things I did in high school and college - maybe because my feet are the only part of my body that still works for?

What are the features of the Vince sandal that you love most? That might help you choose an alternative to it.

The slides are potentially good but I couldn't keep them on, so my opinion is coloured by that. I also think the blue, while pretty, might clash with other blues, so you'd have to know whether it worked with your outfits.

Have you tried Pons sandals? I have a coral pair of flats I got last summer and like them a lot - they are buttery soft and just-barely-open-toed.

They have a "french blue" color that reads sort of navy/grey that might work, as well as a royal blue if you want to go bolder. I think I might buy myself a wedge version this summer :)

Another blue sandal option from Camper... I keep thinking about this one. Like you, Ryce, I'm very fixed on the idea of blue footwear this year, particularly dark/navy blues.

I totally understand the need for a sandal that isn't dressy but is sleeker than most casual sandals. Why is it that sandals give off a comfort shoe vibe more easily than other shoes? Are sandals just a smaller chunk of the shoe market, so less design effort gets put into them?

Greyscale -- I'm trying not to get my hopes up for the new Everlane slides, but I will probably try a pair anyway, because you never know. I LOVE that they're monochromatic. It's often the beige/nude element of sandals that I dislike -- I'm always on the lookout for solid-colored sandals (I've ordered the all-black Kork Ease sandals below to try for that very reason).

I do think denim blues go with lots of things, and your lighter shade in the Kork Ease could be really versatile. My comment above was aimed at trying to have your cake and eat it too--i.e., keeping an eye out for something that could meet both "navy" and "more casual" desires.
Here are some that I came across on the Nordstrom site. Sandals are the last thing I need, so at least I could shop for them for you! Personally I love the idea of blue sandals.

They are cute, but what about a darker denim shade? That could be more versatile, in some respects. I have a pair of denim ballet flats that work like navy for me, but because they are denim they work well with jeans and more casual outfits. I've noticed a lot of sandals in the denim-blue range this year.

I think you'd have to try the Korkease IRL to see if they look as cool on your feet. I've had the ghillie sandals below on my Wish List in case I decide to buy a pair of sandals I don't really need just because they're navy. They come in three widths and half sizes and the laces make them more likely to fit my weird feet which need orthopedic looking footwear.

These are very nice!
I like how the blue surrounds the cork and gives a clean look.
I would put these in the same territory as Birkenstocks, but a little bit more sleek. I can see them with all kinds of casual summer clothes.
I'm not sure they go with everything though.
I would not pair them with olive, but that is just me.

I like those, La Pedestrienne! And speaking of sandals that (probably) don't fit wide feet, I just noticed the flat slide sandals that Everlane is releasing in late May:
https://www.everlane.com/coming-soon/women
(scroll down towards the bottom)

They come in a very nice cobalt blue.

But I suspect the Kork-Ease sandals are more comfortable - I've always been really impressed with their sandals.

I think they're pretty cool! The pale color and shape reminds me of the trendy suede block heel slides the past year or so (eg Maryam Nassir Zadeh and knock-offs). But will the color go with the outfits you had in mind? If you wear blue jeans a lot, I'd worry they'd match too closely.

If you do want something a bit dressier, there are a lot of suede block heel slides out there in different shades and heel heights.
http://www.zappos.com/p/franco.....color/6858
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ma.....en/4483279
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ha.....en/4482219 (drat, only available in 6.5)
http://www.zappos.com/p/kennet.....color/2043

Try them! Cant speak to the blue color, but I just tried the cross strap version, the Amboy, last week (Nordstrom has that one marked down at the moment). I found it ran a bit big -- both length and volume. But very comfortable and lightweight. I'm exchanging for a size down, which may work, but may be too small. The lack of half sizes is a little annoying...

I agree that the Kork-Ease sandals read slightly less "comfort-shoe" than others. That said, if the smaller size doesn't work for me, I'll probably have to settle for Birks, like the rest of my wide-footed family.

I have been thinking for a while that I needed some navy sandals. And interestingly a few of you pointed that need out in my recent WIW post. The truth is, I fell hard for the Vince Taye sandal (see finds below), but my feet did not love them. (Neither did my checkbook, but that is an entirely separate, though equally important, matter.) Nothing else has really caught my fancy, because quite frankly those are my dream sandals.

But then I caught a glimpse of the Kork-ease slides below, and I am kind of taken with them. They are lighter in color than I had originally envisioned and not as dressy, but tbh the Taye's were probably a little dressier than I really need. I'm leaning toward thinking that the Kork-ease actually look kind of cool and modern and not so terribly comfort-shoe-appearing. While at the same time being basic enough to fit my decidedly classic style. And that the color could turn out to be a denim-y go-with-everything kind of blue.

Am I deluding myself?
