U look great dark! The easiest way is to do highlights first and gradually work your way back! Don't bleach your all over hair whatever u do!!!

I think you would look fab in the colour you posted - the honey blonde. I would talk to a trusted colourist and see what they recommend.

I was not really thinking of major highlights at first. I thought I could get some relatively subtle highlights and then gradually, from now until maybe the fall, get things lighter and lighter. I won't go as light as what you see in my picture. My end goal is more of a honey blonde. Something like the color in this picture.

I have relatively dark brown hair in winter and have had highlights in a sort of wheat tone that did not look like zebra stripes. It was from a long seasoned stylist, though.
I agree letting nature give you a head start through summer might not be a bad idea.

I think you should let the summer sun give you a head start, and preferably spend the holiday outside! It will look terrible, but it will be a lot easier to add more blonde coloration afterwards. Plan for a major change in August, and take baby steps now. My two cents:)

Jenny, going from that dark to blonde is not a simple process so I would ask what the stylist recommends. Tell him/her what you want to achieve and they should advise you how to do it.

Oh my, from that dark? Don't get her to do highlights. You'll look like a zebra.

Honestly, if it were me and I wanted to go from dark mahogany to bleach blonde, I'd cut it all off into a cute pixie, and start from scratch.

I've been a blonde almost all my life. Natural to start and needing more and more help as the years have gone by. After the twins were born I felt like I needed a big change, so I cut my hair (a lot) and had it dyed a dark brunette. I really liked it, but it's been a year and a half and I miss my longer blonde hair.

I know we've got some stellar stylists here. I was thinking that going back to blonde semi-gradually by doing highlights would be the best way to do it. My finances now dictate that I go to the local hairstyling school instead of my beloved stylist. It's a school with a great reputation though, and I always use the seniors.

I want to go to honey blonde from this. What should I tell the stylist to do first? Heavy all-over highlights? In what color?

TIA!
