I am proof that going gray can be gracefully done, if that is a route you want to take. I wish I had the courage to go cold turkey, but that is just not me. I think a big part of the success is really being ready to turn gray. It makes it much easier to stay the course.<br /> Anchie, what has worked best for you? We are still figuring out what works, or doesn’t for me. For example, I am really happy to have the silvery white hairs, but must live with the other colors that haven’t quite lost pigment yet. So in summer, do I wear a hat, to preserve the color of the toner (tricky, because then I get sweaty and sweat can change hair color) or do I let the sun go ahead and make my whites lighter and brighter (which then show more of a contrast between the various shades)? It is true that my stylist really made the transition pretty easy. It would have been much easier if I had decided to go gray naturally, but 32 years ago I just wasn’t ready. Ha!<br /> I’ll still be a regular at the salon. We have found that even with the use of special shampoos and conditioners, my white hairs start to turn blond or a bit brassy. While it was fun for about 5 minutes, and I received a lot of compliments, in my heart I am just not meant to be a blond. So I will go in for toner every 4-5 weeks and my stylist applies a mixture of pearl and gray to banish the brassy blond.<br /> The most recent pics were taken right after an appt yesterday, so my hair looks a bit darker. I started my going grey journey in earnest in January. While I have enough pigment in my hair to avoid the skunk stripe (60% grey/40% dark brown as per my stylist) I have been struggling to accept my "Ombré hair" as my stylist refers to my multi colored hair. Most days, I just put it up and try not to look too closely at it. Your post of your beautiful color gives me the boost I need to stick with the process. </p>
