I love aprons but always forget to wear them. I haven't purchased any, I've just received them as promos. My favorite is the style Angie is wearing and it is red. On the 4th of July I was hosting and decided that I was going to choose my outfit to coordinate with my favorite red apron. It was wonderful not having to try to get all the spots out of my clothing after the party. I'm going to make a conscious effort to wear them for my daily cooking.

Thank goodness there's someone else like me out there - in gear type clothes most of the time.
I don't worry about my everyday clothes getting trashed by animals, thorny hedges and mud - that's my lifestyle - but I always change at the end of the day into lounge-wear or my nicer clothes (as long as they are comfortable) and, like you, have committed to apron-wearing for cooking. Mine are similar to Angie's, and I intend to invest in a few more.

Angie got me onto aprons a year or two back and they have reduced stains on my clothes enormously. I splurged on a linenpinafore from rough linen http://roughlinen.com/rough-linen-pinafore.html

I love it because it covers right round and has a great pocket on the front. Stains wash right out too....

I wear a fresh apron each day. The ones like Ryce has don't work for me because the neck strap is too long for me. I like those that are adjustable like Angie's. They get tossed in the laundry with the day's dish cloths each evening. Big pockets are great for decluttering while moving from room to room.

I have a cooking apron and a dishwashing apron (it has a plastic backing, so it's also my 'any cooking that risks oils splattering' spring). They definitely prolong my clothes' lifespan! Especially the latter; I lost a few clothes to accidentally spraying good bits on to myself from an overly strong rinse before figuring out an apron would fix that. I'm not terrible coordinated.

I'm generally pleased with how many stains will come out in the laundry though, as I wear my everyday clothes to go to the woods (and get the occasional dirty puppy paw print), eat, do housecleaning, etc. sans apron. I use the Shout stain remover to pretreat, usually for 10-15 minutes beforehand, and then just my usual cold water/hang dry laundry method. The only stains it's not good at removing are sweat ones.

My aprons are exactly like Angie's, one in red and the other in yellow. I get them replenished regularly on Mother's Day--an family joke! My husband gets the same treatment on Father's Day, only his are in a more masculine solid shade like dark blue or charcoal.

I ALWAYS wear and apron when I am cooking - and I cook a lot. I like the huge striped canvas ones from Williams & Sonoma.

I love my aprons! Like others, I keep them on a a set of hooks kn the kitchen, right next to the door to my laundry room. My kids have given me a couple of beautiful ones from Anthropologie, but for everyday, I have a few linen ones purchased a couple of years ago from an Etsy seller. The linen launders beautifully, and feels a little more "polished" to me than twill.

I have a few. And like some others, sometimes I eat with them on too. Doing anything in the kitchen seems to require them! I even have cooking shirts...one's I don't care about so much...to wear under, because things seem to jump on me and stain my good clothes. This is my current favorite for the last few years: http://www.bragardusa.com/chef.....apron.html (oh wow, there's a little video from America's Test Kitchen about it on the site) It comes in blue and white and I have the blue. It's a lovely linen/cotton blend with adjustable neck and it's very long and wraps around the back of me too. And it's actually a nicer blue than the photo. It was recommended by Lucinda Scala Quinn on her tv show. She'd been using the same one for ten years!

Oh! Yes! Aprons!! My fave subject. An essential part of my Native Costume - No. Cal East Bay Area, haha! To go Native, tho, you must also wear a terry cloth ear warmer at the same time, lolol.

Anyways, I wear them all - bib, craft, long waiter's... I also have a fondness for JC Penney house dress aprons...

I started wearing an apron several months ago when I became frustrated at how quickly I was going through clothing. My lifestyle is still hard on clothing, but the aprons (along with Fabber advice to wash my clothing inside out and line dry) have helped so much!

I always wear an apron like the one in the picture. I've been wearing aprons for 30+ years. I used to wear cute ones, but I prefer the look of a plain white one. I think because it's obvious whether it's clean or not. I have several of them. They're $5 or so at Smart and Final. I keep them hanging on a hook in the pantry. No matter what I'm wearing I put one on. When the current one looks dirty I grab a new one off the hook.

Me. I started wearing aprons every time I stepped into the kitchen a couple of years ago, and sometimes I leave them on for meals! :) Anyway, I put a hook at eye level right at the kitchen entry so I just pop it over my head and go in. I have three in rotation. The only issue I've had is when I dropped a strawberry in between my apron and white button-down, but the juice washed out!

My lifestyle is 90% gear-demanding, non-fashionable and a lot like this poster's life. In facing up to facts that my pretty city clothes have been stuck in the closet for months, I have been adding more flattering gear stuff as the old wears out. Even so, things get messy here, with the animals and the cooking and the gardening. I'm sick of trashing perfectly good clothes. So I am herewith committing to the chore apron, even if I wear it all day.

So far, this is the only style I really can stand wearing. I hate the bartender style that pooch at the bust and put stress on my neck. I've made one smock, but I need a half dozen more to avoid laundry bottle-necks. Luckily, it's a dead simple pattern. Now I need to make it a habit. And figure out where to store the clean ones so I remember to put them on. Anyone made a similar resolution and stuck with it?
