What Mary says. I avoid acrylic like a plague for the piling reason. They just don't last and look terrible and worn pretty quickly. In my experience polyester can be good and bad but acrylic is just bad. I wish they stop use it for knits, it is really hard to find acrylic-free sweaters these days for a reasonable price.

I always thought that the reason we avoided acrylic was because it "pilled" up.

Gap is having a 30%off sale today and I wanted to pick up some sweaters. I'm interested in the cable knit sweater - http://www.gap.eu/browse/produ.....0252503004. The fabric content is 45% nylon, 28% acrylic and 27% wool.

I read on a blog somewhere that you should avoid sweaters with an acrylic content, but I'm not sure why. Any comments on the composition of this sweater? Should I get it?
