Oh I might not have been clear...
Yesterday I packed up both sizes of Marc Fisher Yale booties. Those were the Acne Jensen knock-offs. It was a no-brainer to return these as the fit, in both sizes, was poor.

It was VERY hard to pack up and return the Aquatalias! They are so well made. Honestly from a workmanship standpoint I thought they were more solid than the Acnes but they lacked the style of the Acnes. It is not everyday that I look at such a well made shoe. I definitely will check out Aquatalias again, now that I know my size. The comfort and fit were excellent.

Adelfa convinced me to look for a different kind of second pair rather than the Acne + Aquataila combo. (Both are dressy.) I'm going to get a rugged pair of light colored boots.

I love the Acnes on you and the fit seals the deal. I think they bookend your hair beautifully, and better than the Marc Fishers anyway.
The Aquatalias are a much different vibe and look more casual to me. They could probably work as your casual bootie, even though they aren't rugged. They might be easier to wear--with a variety of pant styles, leg widths, even skirts--than the higher-shaft booties and hiking styles you're looking at.

The Acnes are outstanding. They have that something that makes them seem more chic than all the rest. And what Adelfa said. Look at it like this - if it is too rainy to wear them that would also be a good thing.

I bought some Circus shooties at NAS. For the price I don't care if they last years. They seem fine so far. I think you would look amazing in the AGLs. You wear so many neutrals, why not red? Also the laces would bookend your hair And the red is deep and warm and not screamy at all.

The OTBT are gorgeous and if I'm not mistaken partake of the "hybrid" thing Angie was talking about. I would definitely try those.

Yes Adelfa! I just went browsing for these styles. Sometimes the seam across the instep hurts my arches so not all of these styles work. I like the way the Circus boots look like the 3.1 Philip Lim but who knows if the Circus are of adequate quality. I bet the AGLs are heavenly! Too bad they are red.

I found some moto style boots too, from Vintage Shoe Company. I got some boots from them in 2011 and they are still going strong. Made in the US too. Finally I like the wedge hybrid sneaker/boot shoe from OTBT, also a brand which I found decent in the past and which fit me well.

So -- one of the reasons I've been hanging on to the Aquatalias is they are so well made! They are a beautiful boot. And Unfrumped, I agree they might have more longevity. But, Diana -- I do think they are dressy enough to be duplicative with the Acnes. I took a look at my bootie collection and I have plenty of boots that work in dressy settings. What I'm lacking is a rugged, higher shaft ankle boot. In a color that bookends my hair.

I can't believe I hadn't realized this before. Given my rugged setting and casual lifestyle.

I don't think it's a problem to have both if you have separate outfits lined up and you wear this kind of boot often. So it might be as simple as pulling out half your closet and seeing if there are lots of times the Acne's wouldn't work. And of course you can have both regardless. I have just had a problem overestimating the number of times I wear some of my combinations so that after a year or so, an item has not been worn very much but it's no longer the right thing. Possibly the Aquatalias have more longevity in this regard, though, even though the Acne's are a "love".

Adelfa -- I love you girl. And you crack me up too, even though I know your intention is serious. Yes the Aquatalias are not as chic as the Acnes. I think I need to re-talk myself into feeling chic. I have felt so, so hammered with our hot summer and my hectic pace and need for practicality. The way those YLFers (Northeasterners, Canadians) feel about endless winter is how I feel about endless summer. Dry hot and burning burning burning. No the Butte fire did not reach my community but we had so much smoke and some of our vendors (especially our wine merchants) had to be evacuated.

Also our water is so scarce! There are times when I am trying to fill the water pitchers for our thirsty customers and it just trickles out of the faucet. It's our well, not being able to pump enough water due to the diminishing ground source. We may have to move to portable toilets and bottled water if this continues.

What this has to do with booties = zero. Rant over.

lisap -- the Acnes are more yellow. The MFs are more gray. I do think the gray would work better with my wardrobe. But it's hard to find perfection isn't it ... I think the fit trumps color or price value. Your monitor and my use of flash is probably exaggerating the yellow a bit. Here you have a picture without flash, the Acnes are on the far right.

Isabel & Unfrumped -- I think your point is along the lines of Adelfa's. I am going to check out those Blondos. I have been known to duplicate and it usually means one of the pieces just clogs up my closet. (Black culottes I'm looking at you.)

Sally -- The Aquatalias are so comfortable. I am very surprised they fit my wide feet actually. I would therefore recommend them to a variety of feet types.

Tanya -- yes I'm thinking of keeping them both. Which doesn't help my overstocked closet situation.

Angie -- thank you for your advice, especially since I know it causes pain for you to type. Counting the days to Seattle...

Hmm, the Aquatalias look more like something I would wear, so I think Adelfa is onto something.
If the Acnes are comfortable--a problem I have with some pointier styles--I'm not sure you need the Aqua's. Could you not just wear the heck out of them except for some rainy days? Not just for the $$ issue, but maybe there is another type of boot or bootie that does not overlap as much with color palette and style and creates some kinds of outfit opportunities that you would not have with either of these.
I will have to re-read the prior thread to see the target use of the Aquatalias--was it mostly to have weatherproof lighter booties?

Nothing can stop me from loving the Acnes on you. They are killer, killer, killer. BTW I found a knockoff when Janet did, but they were Jeffrey Campbells. They came yesterday and didn't work. They didn't seem well made and my toe hit the end hard even after sizing up substantially (I measure about 8.25, usually get a 9 for width, and got these in 9.5 due to reviews).

As far as getting both, I want to say this as gently as possible, but the Aquatalias don't seem very stylish for you. However I can understand your needing a basic waterproof bootie. In fact I bought one yesterday, in the finds below. I got mine in black but am showing it in tan for you. I think it might be a knockoff of your Aquatalia and the price is much better for a shoe that's useful but not utterly delightful. As far as my foot goes they are completely TTS.

So I vote keep the Acnes, and try these Blondos before deciding on the Aquatalias!

That's too bad about the MF's. Could have been a good less expensive version of the Acnes , which I love, but they look so yellowish. Is that just me or my monitor? Actually it's probably the sweater enhancing the warm/cool factor here. Over to the jeans - I really like these as a cropped mini flare - really looks good here.

Keep the Acne's because they really answer a need, they're well made, and they're comfortable.

The Aquatalias might be more practical but for the occasions/weather when you would wear those instead of the Acne's are they the best possible style for the circumstances?

The Acnes work well with the jeans, and the sweater so keep them!! And comfort rules!! They look fab on you and I think in your dry climate they will get a lot of wear.

I love the Aquitalia boots, they are the addition I need to my ankle boot collection- the colour, heel;, elegance yet practicality.

So, the saga of my light colored booties for fall continues. Some people like relationship drama, I like shopping drama (this is my boyfriend's theory and I think he's on to something).

Here is my prior thread. In it, Janet found some Acne Jensen look alikes. I promptly ordered them in two sizes.

Picture 1 -- Acnes shown with my old 7s which I am trying out as a cropped jean. My thread about that is here.

2 -- With the Marc Fishers

3 -- With the Aquatalias

As you can see in the group photos, the Acnes are warmer while the Marc Fishers are more gray. The Aquatalias are taupe. The Marc Fishers match the sweater really well. It's an Eileen Fisher I just got from eBay (and yes I will wear a camisole underneath when it's not in the 90s, it was really hard taking these pictures!).

The Marc Fishers have a lot to recommend. But, they do not fit me well. They are too narrow for my foot in the 6.5, and the heel is too big in the 6.5 too. In the 7, the width is right but the I am swimming in the heel plus the boot is just too long overall. Trying these made me appreciate the good comfortable fit of the Acnes.

Style wise, the Acnes are much better with a cropped leg. So I've gone from wanting to return the Acnes to thinking I'm going to keep both the Acnes and the Acquatalias, is this a mistake I wonder. I have done all sorts of girl math and "you deserve these" mental gymnastics to justify keeping both...

Anyway if you have a narrow foot I recommend the Marc Fishers. Whether the heel is too big you would have to judge for yourself.

Thanks again for tolerating my endless threading about these boots! I hope my experience will help someone else at least.
