I would say try the 39 first. it also depends on whether you are buying new from current styles or used off the bay. I read reviews where people complained that whatever size worked for them, stopped doing so, because Acne changed the sizing. I am talking about the pistols. I'm not sure if it is true or not. To me, the shoe looks long but it is not. My blue glitter tassel loafer and the Pistol ankle boots. I find them true to size.
