The really scary character for me was Claribelle the clown on Howdy Doody. I think it was a person dressed as a clown and not a Marionette like Howdy. Someone gave me a big Clarabell doll that became the villian in our games. They remind me of the cut of Girbaud jeans back in the day, which were oddly flattering. I don't mind the style...they would be really unusual, more standout than dated or dowdy looking like so many 80s "mom jeans" would be today.
