I really like these shorts and the whole final combination works really well. The bracelet is a great touch. I would wear this outfit with shoes to go about my day (in informal land).

You look confident and relaxed, and the colors/neutrals are great on you. I really like the chains, and have been doing the same on several occasions. It's a lot more practical! The cardigan is very pretty, and with another pair of shoes this becomes a more dressy outfit all of a sudden. I like the wedges idea!

Shiny, wedges would be fantastic. :o) All I have to do is buy some. But I have my eyes open. I've been converted.

Shannon, the Tshirt is just a Jessica, ordered from Sears on special. And the back seam is even tape-finished, if you can believe it! I paid about 6 or 7 dollars for it. And the cargoes are Calvin Klein, one of my thrift store finds.

Tex, I did just buy a wider belt, but it has a little more buckle going on, so I went for studded instead. My one and only studded item. But I will give the wider one a try, to see. Belts are another thing I am just rediscovering.

Got it on the flip flops. I can't see your belt very well but I wonder if you've tried wider belts? I just got back into wearing belts and I'm really liking the 1.5" size with my jeans, shorts and pants. If the loops will accommodate of course. I think a wider belt can be more flattering sometimes. I've gotten a couple from the Gap recently, one is a nice neutral dark olive grey-green color with a subtle floral embossed design.

Transcona Shannon on "Accessorizing the casual simple"

JR - first off, that t-shirt fits you like a dream. Talk about flattering! What brand is it? I'm not normally a fan of cargos but these look very good on you - nice length and good taper at the bottom. The grey cardi pulls it all together nicely and I like your use of the jewelry.

Claire is right - I read an interview by Jamie Lee Curtis a few years ago that said she simplified her life once she had her daughter by only wearing black, white and grey. Everything mixes well and they are the colours that look the best on her with her salt-n-pepper hair.

Nice! I have similar pair of cargoes, except in olive. I wear them with metallic wedge heels (outside of the house, I mean!) to dress them up a bit.

If it was cool enough in my house to wear a cardi, my toes would be freezing in flip flops! I'd be wearing thick socks. My feet get cold easily!

A denim jacket would look cute over these capris too.

Texstyle, the leather flipflops are my at-home summer shoes. I almost never wear them out anymore, although with cargoes I might.

Thanks, Carole.

Claire, I have actually more or less decided to concentrate on those three colours as the backbone of my wardrobe. I will not restrict myself to them by any means, but they will be the foundation. This is, of course, open to revision. And almost everything else can coordinate with them, so the possibilities are almost endless.

I am thinking that the bright colours and sharp contrasts of black and white are working on me better since I got these glasses. I had very neutral, almost invisible, wire frames before, which made my basic colouring very low-contrast. Imogen of Inside Out Style got me thinking along those lines with her value contrast post.

I really like you in black and white! And grey! It's all coming across sharp but uncomplicated. Your hair just looks effortless, not a mess at all. :)

ETA: take a look at the kinds of things Jamie Lee Curtis wears. I think Shannon said she only wears black, white and grey--that way everything goes together. (Not that you have to do that, just thought it might give you some ideas.)

A stay-at-home day today, but with a coffee guest this morning and my daughter coming this evening. I wanted to look relaxed, but not gone to seed.

It was a cool morning, with a warmer afternoon, as summer winds down rather gloriously.

My very beloved leaf earrings are often called upon when I wear these cargos, because they add a discreet touch of femininity, while respecting some kind of outdoorsy vibe. I wrapped a torsade chain necklace around my wrist for a bracelet. I find I prefer chains or beads to a rigid circle around my wrist, especially around the house. Bangles clank and move around too much and make me feel like I'm play-acting. They only work for me in certain moods and when I'm going out.

And then I added the belt because I felt like it. Very rational and scientific. Do you think it was a good idea?

The grey cardigan is for warmth, as I left the windows open at night. I am still thrilled to have a cool house after our very hot summer. And I like the slouchy aspect of it with the cargos, so I'm defiantly doing volume on volume.

Please excuse the hair. It has a mind of its own, and was in an argumentative mood today. And I was not at all in a scarf mood today. I know, I'm shocked too.
