Good luck Mochi! It's a beautiful coat and I hope it works out for you. The sizing charts are next to useless - I too found getting exact measurements to be extremely helpful.

What color did you decide on?

This would be my third, but now I finally think I understand about their fit (better, anyway). And there's a decent sale/promotion going on. And at this point I'm afraid to wait till after the holidays.

It's this one,

http://www.jcrew.com/womens_ca...../49715.jsp

which I believe Angie had recommended. At that time I held back partly because I wasn't as enamored of the style (but realize that what worked for Angie and others here is not that great for me--d'oh! Finally acknowledged this)

Also I was holding off because their Petites only go up to 12. That's definitely not a great fit. I hesitated to go into their regular sizes, but today I had a phone convo with Customer Service and asked her for as many measurements as possible (for a 12P, 14 and 16).

The upshot is that the back length on a 16 is only about 2" difference with 12 Petite (supposed to hit at mid-thigh, and I don't mind going lower at all). Sleeve difference is about 3", which isn't ideal but I think I can deal with it and perhaps get it altered if the rest of the fit is great. And the side pockets would land only about 1.5" lower on the torso on the 16, which, again, I think might not be an issue. Of course I'll have to see. But the roomier chest and waist is definitely going to make that size more manageable and it also has princess seams (very good).

So moral of the story is, it's good to press for information...in my case, anyway.

I hope it works out!
