I have been obsessed with slip-on sneakers lately. Here are a few of my pairs. I also have a couple of pairs of velvet ones that I haven't made finds for.

This is a timely question for me, as I just came to realize, due to the current sneaker boom, how well they fit my lifestyle. I walk a lot, live in NYC, and have fussy feet. Now that sneakers are cool, I can even wear them to work.

I have two strictly running pairs by Merrell _-one I stash at work for the gym near there, and one for home.

I have some bright pink Sketchers with memory foam for heavy walking days. My husband and I travel a lot, so I need things for LONG days of walking. I also have some hiking sneakers by Merrell that I want to replace, as they're over the hill.

I have New Balance mint green fashion sneakers, as well as two pairs of Sperrys - silver printed canvas boat shoe and a turquoise sneaker. The Sperrys have great support but look cute.

I have two pairs of slip-on Keds, one in a shiny black, and one in a perforated light blue. These are very versatile.

And I just got these metallic Eccos, since I kept reading about Eccos on here, and they're the only brand my husband likes. Just got to wear them for the first time today!

I think I'm DONE for now, after starting a year ago with one pair of fashion sneakers, the boat shoes, and running/hiking shoes. I like having so many options, so that I'm not wearing the same thing every day (feet get tired of that), but any more would be overboard.

And honestly if you get a year out of sneakers, any kind, that's pretty good.

I had to remind a former male friend you can't resole sneakers, so no they won't last years

I have a few pairs too

- white leather with gold heel tips
- pewter high tops
- pink adidas lites
- black Asics trainers

The first two are fashion sneakers and the last two gear sneakers. But I admit to the pink and black ones getting some wear in other situations too. For example on Sunday I take the 15 year old to a tennis tournament and will go for a walk or run at some point during the day, spend a good part of it on the sideline, and probably meet some relatives for lunch. That is quite a typical scenario for me.

If you like the platform trend I would go ahead, trends linger a decent amount of time now.

I definitely separate real sneakers from gym sneakers.
But good thing about fashion sneakers they still work for unexpected long urban walks.

I have running shoes that I reserve for athletic pursuits, or when I'm wearing gear, say walking to and from the Pilates studio or going to the swimming pool. I love wearing fashion sneakers with a lot of outfits, and I have 4 pairs in rotation right now. One is a mid-top pewter metallic with a hidden wedge, by Paul Green, which I got several years ago, and which I don't have a Find for. The others are shown below in Finds. The newest ones are the pink ED pair. The most-traveled are the Mephisto pair; they double as athletic shoes for going to the gym, when I'm traveling.
The ones you are considering are super cute. The platform seems to be among the latest trends in street sneakers, and I doubt it will go away very soon. If you aren't going to get much wear from them this summer, you might go for a color that you think will take you a ways into the fall. Sneakers are a good substitute for casual oxfords or loafers.

The first two pairs are super cute. The retro vibe of the Pumas are yummy.

Generally, I do not like athletic sneakers. Don't like the look and find them awfully uncomfortable. I'm not a fan of wearing gear - not even when I have to for yoga.

I DO like fashion sneakers and have Summer and Winter pairs. Work horses. Love them. See below.

For "real" athletic sneakers, I wear Altras -- one pair for trail running and hiking, one pair for road running. They've more or less solved most of my foot/ankle/knee problems, so I won't be switching my allegiance anytime soon.

For casual wear, I've not been very into sneakers lately, maybe because they're so *everywhere* right now. I used to be a HUGE Converse fan, and I still have a pair of Chucks, but don't wear them often. Partly a comfort thing, partly due to the fact that they are printed rather than solid color, which reduces their versatility somewhat. But I knew that when I bought them, and I still do love them.

I also have a pair of Allbirds Loungers, which are sort of my go-to around-town shoe right now. I suspect they make my feet look huge, but whatever, they're comfortable without socks, which makes them good for days like today, when it's chilly in the morning and I'm too much of a wuss to wear sandals or even little canvas shoes.

Speaking of little canvas shoes, these are the sneakers that have more or less replaced my Converse: http://xeroshoes.com/shop/ipari/lena/
They run very wide, which means I can comfortably put a thick, wooly sock inside them. I wore them all through our dismal, cold spring as an alternative to boots. At first I thought the loose fit would drive me crazy, but having a "transitional" sneaker that can accommodate a boot sock proved out to be a sanity-saver, because by March/April, I am just so sick of boots...

Okay, so for a person not very into sneakers, I kind of have a lot of sneakers...

BTW, those Ahnu hikers are *great* shoes -- I had a pair of the Montara hiking boots, built on the same last, when I was pregnant; they were the only shoe I could wear for more than a couple hours. I adored them. I recommend Ahnu to everyone looking for lightweight trail/travel shoes that look decent for casual wear. I added a cute pair of insulated Ahnu boots last year that I've been very happy with. I think they're actually made by Teva, or owned by the same parent company or whatever...

What are your favorite sneakers? what kind fit into your lifestyle?

I have athletic ones for the gym, (Sketchers light weight running ones), older Asics for agility, waterproof hiking ones that work well for a lot of things, white court sneakers for pickleball that double as fashion sneakers for some occasions. Also I have one pair of slip on strictly fashion, and black new balance that can be somewhat multi purpose.

Am seriously considering lower platforms like photos below. Trendy? will this trend be a short one? Now that it is warming up sandals will replace fashion sneakers for daytime wear, so if I get the platforms they will not get much wear for a while.

The last pair are my waterproof hikers. they are Ahnu and are replacements for my old Tevas that are no longer waterproof. I just love these, comfy for all day wear, and dry.
