I mostly order from them if something they offer comes up in a search I am doing; I don't just troll their website. Every now and then my daughter asks for something from ASOS and she is usually pleased with her selection. Their shipping is fast and returns are easy.

Recently I ordered the following three finds. Unfortunately the fringed boots I had high hopes for were definitely for high volume feet. I think the quality is otherwise good. I like the moto boots and am keeping. And there was a delay on this striped shirt.

Interesting. So I looked it up and I would order (I think) through the US site because they do not have a Canadian site. This suggests I would also pay for returns. But it still might be worth it if I knew what I was doing. I really love the chiffon tunic, too, Brooklyn.

I have ordered from them a bunch of times. They have amazing sales and free delivery to Israel. No free returns but I am thrilled enough to get free shipping. I return as much as I keep and have never had any trouble returning. Definitely worth ordering more than one size and returning the wrong one - this is even an option on their returns form.

Deb, that dress is great, that is exactly the sort of thing I would look for on ASOS.

And Rabbit, thanks for that information about shoes. I forgot about shoes and bags! I have not ordered much in the way of shoes from them but I did get these slip on reeboks for dog walking and work commuting. I specifically did not want a white sneaker sole, so they were exactly what I was looking for. I have never had any issues with their website. That is an interesting point of difference. But I do know what you mean about things selling out and then coming back. I am happy when this occurs!

And I have got some cute bags from ASOS. My suede patchwork bag (I baby it a little because it is suede, but I do love it). Also this faux pony hair red clutch. Very inexpensive but just a fun addition to an outfit. So you are right Suz, definitely worth a look for fun accessories.

Oh, thank you so much, Brooklyn, and Deb and Kate, too. This is really helpful.

I have never ordered from them, but this is exactly the type of item I'd be most likely to choose -- fun and funky bags, footwear, or accessories that are not available in my area, or "cooler" versions of basic pieces that I could use to layer with. I need to read up more carefully on the shipping and returns policy for Canada. I know that former member Ceit did use them. She also has a rectangular body type (as Brooklyn does and I do, in a more modified, less "model-like" way.) So it was helpful to see the fit of things on her.

What I take from all of you is that you knew exactly what you were after, in ordering. And the shapes of the garments (or shoes) fit your requirements.

I like those tunic/dresses! Good to know about your experience ordering clothes. I've ordered bags and lots of shoes from them, of which I've kept only a fraction. I'm based in the US so shipping (above a certain threshold) is free and returns are free. It usually takes about a week and half for an order to arrive with the free shipping.

For shoes I feel like the quality varies greatly. It's mostly fine for the price if bought on sale. The draw is that they offer a very wide variety of trendy styles and colors at a low price that is hard to find and the construction can be better than an H&M or F21 shoe much of the time. I think their sizing is mostly European which they loosely translate to US sizes so if you are between European sizes I've definitely had to size up, also to add insoles for comfort if I can as they skimp on padding.

I haven't been as impressed with the non-leather sandals and espadrilles I've ordered from them, flat soles were really flimsy and stiff and the faux-suede wasn't great so I returned them all. I'd definitely try them again though as they are one of the only places selling the styles and colors I want for my baseline price.

I ordered several non-leather Purses/bags since they have had some fun clutches and cross-bodies and the like. I actually would have kept more of my order but I was being strict about budget, but I liked what I kept.

What I find a little frustrating about their website is it can time out or hangup during ordering, and it can take several tries to submit an order. Also items seem to go out of stock and then come back in stock (maybe as someone else's hold expires or they return goods) quite frequently so it's worth checking again, especially if it looks like it went out of stock within an hour or a day. Also there is only email help and they don't answer back that quickly. That said the returns process is simple, you don't even need to print anything out.

I find them really fun to browse though, and good for sparking all kinds of ideas about possible outfits/items.

These are some things I liked:

I have a summer swing dress that I purchased last summer. I love it. I paid $35 for it and wear it as lounge wear. I just throw it in the washer and dryer almost every week this summer and last and there is not a pill on it. And it is a rayon knit.

Hi all

Suz asked me about my experiences with ASOS and I thought I would share them as a separate post, in case others are interested or would like to chime in with their experiences.

I like ASOS for their range and competitive prices. Also, they do a catwalk demo of most of their products (a much better approximation of how the garment looks IRL). They also do free shipping and inexpensive local returns here. Last year I signed up to their premier membership (around $30). It gives me free express shipping (no minimum), free local returns, early access to sales and some special deals. I got it mostly for the free returns. Free returns are still are rarity here.

Quality is variable. It is often a case of you get what you pay for. That said, I have had good luck with some inexpensive items. I got the sleeveless dress below for $23AUD. I liked it so much I got a second one (one is for home, one is for "good" wear) and a long sleeve version. It is just a basic tank dress but it is a nice fluid fit on me, long enough, and has curved hems (love curved hems!). Great for layering. I also recently got the dark blue chiffon top in finds. I plan to layer it over the black sleeveless dress in spring. It is very gauzy and has a delicious long back slit. I am very happy with these purchases.

I have also had good experiences with their non ASOS labels. I like Shae, Selected, Just Female and Gestuz.

I do think that a lot of the ASOS brand stuff is quite short. Don't assume the model is tall. Many ASOS models are average height - so check that in the item details. I have a friend who is average height and she complains that every dress she buys from ASOS is too short.

As far as sizing goes, generally I have found their items are pretty TTS. I have had some issues with things running small, especially around the hips and thighs. That may be because of my shape. Most of their items are sized in UK sizing, which is different from US (but the same as Australian). I generally take my standard Australian/UK size. Some of their sizing is European (I always size up in European sizes).

I have best results with them when I am looking for something specific. Otherwise I can find the quantity of merchandise that they have overwhelming. I have returned many items and am very pleased with their service.

Anyone else like to share their ASOS experiences?
