I think Amazon is probably the best retailer out there, if you're ready to do a LOT of browsing on their site. You can't beat their custom service. We have Amazon Prime and are HUGE Amazon fans.

It's like all bargain hunting. You have to weed out a lot of duds and hope to find things in your size. Either you enjoy the hunt or you don't.

But yeah, it helps to find things on other sites first and then specifically check if that thing is available on amazon.

I'm with Kari and Daria; I never go to Amazon first to look for clothes or shoes, but i often find them there in a search, often after they've been discontinued at other retailers, or at a serious discount.

One option is to search 6pm for what you're looking for, and then find them at Amazon. Most (all?) of the inventory on 6pm is available on Amazon too since they own 6pm now.

I often find good deals on Amazon (mostly footware but occasionally clothes as well). However.. I find their search flaky, and amount of choices overwhelming. I always search a more manageable site first (say Zappos) and only go to Amazon for a specific product.

For clothing it is hard if you are searching for a broad category without something specific. For example if I wanted a green knee length dress, I probably have a general idea of what kind I want (length, sleeves, neckline) but it's hard to search by those criteria vs. things like category (wear to work, wedding guest) or size. When I have a more specific idea-like a pair of black Vince Camuto pants-it's easier to filter to what I want. It's not carefully curated like a dept. store that specializes in clothing, but there's a much wider selection and sometimes a much Lower price. (Case in point, scoring my favorite Cole Haan wedges for about $55 each; less than half their retail price and even less than the NAS cost.) it's just a different retail opportunity and not everyone loves shopping that way. I don't find Amazon frustrating, but I'm lost in a thrift store.

I love Amazon prime as well, and buy everything from nail polish to external hard drives. I have bought a few pairs of shoes, but I searched specific brands, colors and price range to limit the selection. I also made sure the returns were free. I personally find shopping for shoes on online much easier at Nordstrom or Zappos.

I am a huge Amazon shopper and prime member for everything but things I wear. I've gotten some shoes from Amazon once or twice, after identifying them on polyvore or shopstyle or something, but Amazon's own search engine is crap when it comes to clothing, the product descriptions are poor, availability is odd, and the multiple prices for similar items are also irritating. I also feel generally like they are lacking in current season items.

I'm with the others....I order a ton from Amazon- from boots to the filters for my refrigerator's water dispenser! When searching, I do limit my selections to "prime eligible" and avoid most of the no name stuff.

I've had really good luck with Amazon too, including buying shoes. My problem is that often it seems like there are too many choices! Do you use the sort options to show just shoes in your size and the color you want? I do that immediately after I type in what I am looking for. I also sort it so that it only shows sellers that I know have free returns, like Amazon and 6pm.

I would burn through an amazon gift card in about 2 minutes. I've bought shoes, pants, blouses, underwear, etc. And if you do return something, as soon as UPS scans the label, Amazon processes your refund.

Really? I find amazon to be nearly as good as cash and have no problem finding something at want any day of the week. I do find their search function is lacking so I understand that issue. Have you tried amazon warehouse? They sometimes have great deals on shoes that were returned but still in great shape. I found some Clark's booties for $16 and I love them.

I am really getting tired of trying to get anything exept books for my Kidle on Amazon. I recieved a gift certificate for Christmas and have been trying for several days to find mid calf boots, and, or fringed booties. Every time I find sometjhing to order they either not in my size, corlor or something. seems everything that is either too cheap to take a chance with or way expensive is all I can find.
