bj1111 - so interesting. Mine was ultra-warm (also extremely heavy) -- sounds like the quality may vary across styles.

Happy ending to my S&K story: I have a niece who just relocated from a hot desert location to Denver. She and I are the same size except for her dainty shoulders, so the coat is on its way to her.

I am a longtime S&K fan! You will simply never go cold in the long ones. My dog-walking coat of choice. I have one going on 10 years now and it's still going strong, although I get a button re-attached annually and the lining is starting to get small holes in it. My short one I just retired after about 11 years and I probably could have gotten some more time out of it, but it was starting to show its age.

i have a light weight one. i have to say, the quality was not what i had expected. lots of shedding feathers which suggests that the fabric weave is not tight enough.

also, it's not warm enough, though it probably was meant as a transition coat for the north or balmier winters than the upper midwest.

I agree - I find them small and made for straighter figures. Though the style that I have is a bit different and accommodates my hips.

I have an S and K trench that is lovely but I have definite IT tendencies and it is not a comfortable fit. T figure is bSically straight but the shoulders are wide.

I have a S&K puffer. I also definitely have the IT shoulders going on. I did size up one at the time, as I recall; I think Angie and I have the same navy one bought at Nordstrom 3-4 year ago.

I purchased a S & K puffer several months ago. As mentioned, the quality is impeccable. I found S &K to fit TTS, at least for me. On the other hand, I concur with Janet's assessment that the brand may be friendlier to more narrow or straight figure types.

I tried a S&K puffer once and I think I remember it being too tight in the hips? Or the chest? So a brand that is more friendly to overall narrower figures.

Wondering if the same issue applies to Helly Hansen puffers. Very tight shoulders, and proportionally wide waist and hips.

As Angie noted, this brand has *stunning* quality. Beautifully made, and about as fashionable as puffers get.

If you don't have dainty shoulders, however, you will have to size up enough times that the fit may not make sense.

I just added -- with great regret -- my own S&K puffer to the donate pile because in spite of returning a smaller one for the next largest size, the shoulders are just too tight on me. :(
