Bought new boots, left old ones in closet because oooh I couldn't commit to ditching.</p> <p>Fast-forward a year -- realized old ones were more comfortable than (bought-for-comfort and not bad) replacements and still filled a hole as replacements weren't identical. Got old ones retreaded, lived happily ever after with them back in rotation.</p> <p>I really don't think you'll regret having your old favs around before/after new ones arrive...but if you do, you can donate them. I will also suggest footsmart.com, as their focus is comfy shoes in a variety of widths (footbed-wise, at least; I've not had to look for calf widths myself). They are Rockports and were just perfect basic waterproof boots. I bought them locally only because they were a great deal on sale, and they ended up being my go-to boots for the last five years. The sole finally fell off yesterday!</p> <p>So I am on the dreaded hunt for a pair of black boots. My vintage ones are a little too funky to be all-purpose. I'd like:</p> <p>Shaft height between 11 - 13<br /> low to mid-heel<br /> zip entry<br /> basic style (love the Rorys but too hard to get on and off)<br /> narrow calf but wide feet</p> <p>I've combed through Zappos and Endless. Any ideas? </p>
