Angie, you are probably right. Don't want to be so ahead of the fashion you look like you are just wearing an old dress! (Danja, I like in a regional town and am a SAHM) But since I am keeping this stuff anyway for sentimental value (in separate boxes, not in my wardrobe) I can always bring it out and change it next winter if it becomes more mainstream.

How fun, Anne! Thanks for inviting us to go down your memory lane with you :0)

I’m in total agreement with what Danja said. But it’s such a HIGH FASHION look that I fear it may not work for where you live, or for your lifestyle. What do you think?

BTW I forgot to say earlier, Debora - I am a bit bigger than when I wore these - especially the ball dress which Mum made for me when I was 15 - I can only fit that one because it is full on the bottom half. I know one fitted dress I got when I was 17 ripped up the back seam the next year, at a party!!! And I have put about 2 inches on in my waist since having kids ( all dresses are pre kids) but I think I must have just worn everything a bit loose in the waist back then.

Danja == are you seriously saying I could get away with a dress with those buttons! Food for thought. That dress is seriously unworn.

I am not actually wearing shoulderpads, just puffed sleeves Maya and Danja. I have quite a strong shoulder line and even in the 80's and 90's did not put shoulder pads in my sewing ( in fact Al the women in our family used to take them out of everything we purchased, except perhaps jackets. We had piles of them - remember when you could hardly even buy a t-shirt without a shoulder pad?)

Oh my gosh I would totally wear that electric blue 80's dress! The neckline is so cute!

Red dress is too funny. Look at you in those shoulder pads! You actually wear them well.

That is so fun Anne. Thanks for sharing your trip down memory lane. It is so great that you kept these dresses. I'm afraid at some point I decided to get rid of my prom dress that I made and I regret that.

Anne! The 70's dress is gorgeous. I would wear it in an instant.

THE RED DRESS IS SO RIGHT FOR NOW!!! I love it! It has enhanced shoulders, right? Ok, here is what you do, you take an inch or two from the bottom, to show of those shapely legs. You might want to shorten the sleeves to 3/4 or so, if you like that look. Then put on some sheer tights, and nice cool pumps, and you are all set for a nice dinner date with your husband.

Glad you are enjoying them!
Rute _ I don't want to wear these now so don't need to adapt them, just was having fun.
I loved the patterned 70's dress on my Mum when i was little and couldn't wait for a 70's party to wear it to (they were pretty common in the 90's but I haven't been to one for ages now) It is pretty close to being worn out.

The ankle length red one is very woolly. I wore that one frequently as a uni student.

Lovely post!
I think you could make some arrangements on the blue and the red dress and make both work (maybe sleeveless?) as tho the 70's dress the pattern is too overwelming!

My wardrobe editing plans got a little sidetracked the other day with a foray into the "archive box". Here is what I had some fun with
My first ball dress late 80's http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_7534.jpg
A dress of my mum's from the seventies that I wore in the 90's http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_7528.jpg
Another seventies dress I wore as a student in the 70's (belt added, lost original)
A dress I started making and Mum finally finished in 1996 too late for it to be in fashion
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_7532.jpg
And finally my wedding dress!! http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_7529.jpg
