If we are lucky the universe gifts us with furry bundles of love who teach us and provide a level of companionship that is indescribably special. Last summer I had to put to sleep my beloved cat (he’s memorialized in my member photo). It doesn’t make the grief easier, but I have found some comfort in knowing that his health had declined to the point where he was ready. He has a permanent place in my heart that will be with me forever. We are a pug family (we have three right now; my spouse has had six total). Two of our ladies are quite elderly; both are sweet sweet dears. They are indeed the Hobbits of dogs. The hardest part of sharing your heart with an animal is that they leave us far too soon. Having an emotional morning since today was the first day since that I woke up earlier than my husband. The morning routine of feeding the dogs and making coffee is just all wrong without her here. Losing a pet always hurts but this time is the hardest I’ve ever experienced. I need to do something today to get out of the house and distract myself.
