Jjsloane, Julie, and Taylor, isn't that a huge disappointment? Ugh. It's so tricky to find the right color, sheen, and consistency in a lip color. I've been searching for "my red" for a while and finally gave up and decided that I'm happy simply finding a replacement for "my pink".
I'm also very picky because, like my dad, my teeth are kind of yellow-ish and are prone to staining, and the last thing I want is a lip color that makes my teeth look yellower!

Anyway, perhaps the options of custom-made color that Modgrl and Laura mentioned might work for you?

Lynne, the makeup-sabotaging explosion aside, I *love* that ClearCare contact solution. My contact specialist recommended it years ago because I was having a lot of trouble with allergies irritating my eyes. She also mentioned that because the ClearCare does *such* an amazing job of cleaning the lenses, that if I am careful, I can stretch my 2-week disposable lenses out to wear them for longer, like 3 weeks instead, as long as the lens itself seems to be in good shape. Most of the time, I'm able to do this.

AJ, my lips are naturally very pale, and I think the only reason I didn't feel the need to wear lip color previously is that my facial skin is even paler in comparison. I'm actually amazed now at how much just a subtle lip color warms up my face.

Gasp! It's beautiful!

And yay for hydrogen peroxide contact lens solutions. Not because of your lipstick, but because it's most effective and least allergenic cleaning system around. A lot of people find the neutralizing step a hassle but I'm a fan.

Lovely color on you, Kari! So glad you were able to find a replacement!

Sadly, age has made me a lipstick wearer now. My lip color is fading so I'm experimenting with different natural looking lipstick colors.

Lovely color, Kari!
I am chuckling because I still have a little tub of custom-made lip gloss that I wore on my wedding day. I still love the color and wore it for going out the other night. And ahem, this January will mark our 10th anniversary Probably the heath dept. should take it away from me!!

The new color looks gorgeous! Do you still have the Dior addict lipstick? You can have it made for you. There is a company called 3 Custom Color in NY, they will make anything for you. You just send them a tiny sample and they will not only make the same color, but same opacity, sheen, sparkle, and consistency. I spent close to a year and a lot of money trying to match a favorite lipstick that had been discontinued. Apparently I was not the only one because the company had several other requests for the same shade. Once they have your sample on file, they can make more using the same formula. It seems pricey at $55 for two tubes, but thinking about the amount of money I wasted trying to match this shade in the first place, it would have been worth it to do this from the beginning.

Yay for finding a replacement! I have been looking for "MY" color for 5 yrs since they discontinued mine from Sebastian. about 30 lipsticks later and still no luck.
It is so much about the texture , depth of color, and sheen when on. Nearly impossible to tell from the tube:(
I dislike sticky, wet, slick or ultra moist lipsticks:(

Lipstick is also the only make up item I will not buy from a drugstore and Dior addict is the only lipstick I will purchase. So so worth it! I currently have it in Beige Casual, Parisian Chic, Baby Rose and New Look. I love the shimmer! Yours is super pretty too.

That is your shade! Congrats, I always choose something as my favorite that is promptly discontinued. I was once sent from the Estee Lauder counter as being unmatchable for foundation after mine was discontinued. Sob. I have recovered and clearly you have as well. I think Sephora's F&F is in September so you can stock up

To make a long story short: I really didn't wear lipstick, except for special occasions, until very recently - just chapstick or lightly colored gloss. 10 years ago I had purchased a Dior lipstick for a special event, and had only worn it maybe twice until a year and a half ago, when I found it in a purse and tried it out. To my surprise, it was still moist and had a gorgeous color, so I started wearing it. (See picture 1, on the left side.) I discovered that the color, Rose Mirage, was no longer made but there was plenty of lipstick left in the tube. It quickly became my near-daily lipstick.

Sadly, on plane trip in May, my contact solution (which is basically hydrogen peroxide) leaked inside my cosmetics bag and destroyed the lipstick tube (see the right side of picture 1.) After I scraped the rust flakes off the lipstick it was still usable, but there wasn't much left. Plus, it probably wasn't a great idea to keep using a lipstick that was a decade old.

I kept trying to find a lip color for day to replace this one, but either couldn't find a color I liked, or the lipstick was just too dry and made my lips look peeling and flaky. However, more recently, I was browsing in Sephora and found, not my original color, but a darn close match (Dior Backstage 583.) Moisturizing, not flakey, and a very similar pretty color. (Pictured in photo #2 - and I apologize that the lighting in the photos of me is quite different, but I think the general idea still comes across.) Anyway, I'm very pleased at my replacement shade!
