I think you made the right choice but if it were me I'd sneak the sexy stilettos back into your wardrobe for those occassions where you want to look glam but won't be walking much (maybe it's just me - I'm a sucker for heels).

The cage sandals in #1 really are pretty. So I hope there is a way to save them.

I hear you on #2, although they actually look quite nice in the photo --- but it's all in how it fits and feels on your foot.

I think #3 is an absolutely great choice for this summer. I have had this similar experience of having to settle a bit in my sandal choices this year, and it is frustrating, but on the other hand, the season is short and we need something to wear now! The ones you got look great on you. I like the way the wedge is self-covered in part with a bit of cork -- it makes them a touch less casual and yet still casual enough.

Wedges will always be in for summer, at least I hope so! These kind are great. I think it's just the ones with the big clunky platforms that are on their way out.

I wasnt sold on the shoe just sitting there... but seeing on your foot = great choice! I think wedge sandals will always be around in summer where people will be walking on grass and will not want true heels to sink and this is a nice refined wedge. Love that dress too

I like the shoes you're keeping for more casual occasions. I'm glad you decided to keep #1 since I agree that they're gorgeous and sexy. I don't see them working in the same context as #3 - they seem more suited to fancier occasions.

Whew, a reprieve for the golden cage heels.

Those wedges are golden for goldilocks. The covered heel modernizes it. I still like the payless specials, say with white clams or jeans as in your travel capsule.

Lantana and Pil, you've both made excellent suggestions. Since the issue is related more to the slimness of the heel, rather than it's height, I might try adding a heel cap, or something like it. They are very pretty, and cage sandals are still around after several years. I'm sure glad I didn't wear them to my wedding last week, since the reception started on the lawn. I would have been aerating the soil!

#1 is a beautiful sandal. Could the heels be cut down at all, or wouldn't that make enough difference? I hear you on the fear of falling as I have actually done that in an ill fitting pair of slingbacks that have since been purged. I have a pair of Nina open toe pumps bought for a wedding that resulted in foot cramps. The saleswoman told me they could be cut down 1/4" though I don't know what kind of difference that would make.

#2 is in my closet too! I bought them at a consignment shop last year - must be from someone else who found them to be dated I can count on one hand the number of times I've worn them.

#3 do look just right! Comfortable, a nice neutral and versatile. I hope wedges are around for a while too.

Sob, I adore #1. Couldn't you keep them? They are so pretty!
You know, you can buy these little half beds that you stick onto the back of a sandal and they give just enough friction that you don't slip.
And why not keep aside one pair of special shoes for occasions that call for sitting, not striding?
Meanwhile, I do like #3 as an everyday option; it's essential to have shoes that allow you to get on with the job.

Hi Adelfa! I tried the Ecco's that Vix wore so beautifully in her most recent post, but they were a little too narrow, particularly in the last, and, in addition to not being quite comfy, it looked like I had bandaged my feet in metallic duct tape. The straps on some of these sandals cross the foot in odd points. Some ankle straps, for example, pull with every stride. And believe me, when I walk, I S-T-R-I-D-E. My pair will come, I'm sure! I'm taking advantage of the fact that my shoe collection is very avant garde for my environmental norm.

I bought a pair in that same line of Aerosoles and they are so comfy! I like how yours tone with your legs and I like in particular how the curving straps echo the curvy lines in your dress (which is a REALLY great dress on you). In general I think the shoes look really good on you in a more than the sum of their parts kind of way--I like them even better on you than just by themselves.

I think they may not be the ultimate modern sandal but they are pretty and current and comfy and you have to wear *something*!!! PPP only works if you already have something to wear. And as Angie mentioned, wedges are still being sold at all price points.

btw, what happened to that first pair of sandals in the other post? Did I miss a post where you talked about them not working?

I'm still on the hunt for a pair of truly modern Summer sandals. You know, something like the Sam Edelman's that Angie posted earlier this Spring. Every pair I try, however, fits poorly. Sigh. Still, I think I've learned some important things about Summer dressy sandals, so here it is:

1. These shoes are too scary! I love these 3 1/2 year old shoes, which I purchased for stage wear. But, while I walk fairly easily in heels, the combination of the narrow heel point and the open back of the shoe means that these are constantly slipping out from underneath me. They are SOO glam, and even, dare I say it, sexy. And yet, falling on your kiester is never really sexy! They're in the goodwill bin.

2. These shoes are too frumpy! These 3 year old Payless Pewter's rate a B in comfort, and they were the thing in 2010. But they feel more dated to me now, especially as I've been earsestly looking for an update. And they give me the look of creepy long toes, even though I don't, for the record, have creepy long toes. They're in the donate pile!

3. These shoes are just right! Or rather, they're right for right now. I'm still keeping up the search, and the reasonable price of these Aerosoles from DSW keeps a little room in the budget for a more permanent solution. Still, these wedges are a little more flattering and dressy to my eye. I'm a little worried that wedges may be on their way "out," but this was overridden by the fact that wedges suit my style and frame and they are exceedingly comfy and walkable.

So did Goldilocks settle for less than the best? Or did she skip merrily home in her comfy wedges with a plan to check the next house in the woods another day?
