I emailed them about that navy moto Ceit! They told me to watch for it and that it might go quickly once it was in. Um, thanks. It's happened to me before with the Gap and sounds like it's just normal marketing, which frustrates me. But I guess they don't care if they get you to click through and maybe buy another item. Frustrating!
Edit to add, went to check out the jacket. It doesn't even look navy in the catalogue picture. They had a much better chance with me using the photo in the email, which I've now deleted.

I'm with you all - especially Anna as I note items in magazines all the time I want to pin or purchase and never can find some of them.

Thanks for your replies, ladies. I guess I'll need to acquire the stalking skills of Ceit & the detective skills of Annagybe if I'm really interested in something. That seems like too much work.

In the grand scheme of things, I would think there would be more frustrated shoppers, than people swept away by the magnificence of the brand, or whatever their intent was.

I hear you! The items should not be marketed until they are on the market, so to speak...or at least a little proviso in small print like "coming soon"...

It's even worse for fashion magazines. I saw a really cool studded jacket by Diesel Black Gold in the August issue of Nylon magazine. Did multiple searches, image searches, fashion show listings. Diesel Black Gold put the image on their facebook page with a blurb about the spread. I still cannot find out how much it is or where to buy it.

Some things do seem to roll-out to Gap later. There's a navy leather jacket that was in a promotional email 3 weeks ago but it just showed up online yesterday!

I get a lot of emails from retailers. I look through many of them and enjoy clicking on items that look interesting, even if it's just curiosity. Lately, I find that stores feature items that they don't have. When you get into the merchandise it's the same old stuff, not what was featured in the email photo.
Today's example is from the Gap. I tried many ways to get the "v-neck dolman tee shirt" to come up, including putting it into their search site. No luck. Have any of you noticed this?
