Gryffin, they're quite stretchy, and I would call the weight sort of a mid-weight. Not the lightest I've tried, nor the heaviest. They have a denim feel, but it's definitely a stretchy denim. I don't mind that because I find the stretch comfortable. The lack of stretch is one problem I have with my old Paige jeans -- they have the very substantial double-buttoned waistband that Paige did a few years ago, and they have absolutely NO give. It was OK back then, before my hysterectomy, but I'm a little squishier in the middle since then, unfortunately.

Janet - I have stockpiles of Lucky Brand. I love the rider classic for bootcut, classic straight for straightleg and I loved the Lola skinnies in multi sizes for boyfriend vs skimming skinnies. When they changed to the lolita, I only tried the black, there was so much stretch it felt like really thin jeggings and I wanted "jeans" So your lolita's feel denim-like, are they thick with some give or are they very stretchy? I'm hoping Lucky will offer both petrified that I'll have to ration my stash if they don't.

I have been wearing my Loft jeans (their "premium" brand- have a bit of stretch, dark wash)- they retail for about $90 but I got them on special for $35 each (those specials are frequent). I wear them nearly every day and they have held up really, really well- over a year later, still good dark color, still stretchy, still good length. Not sure how I can do better!
These are the style: http://www.loft.com/petite-sup.....Color=0813- I have them in dark wash, curvy fit- don't see them anymore :(

Ah Lucky!!! So happy they worked for you! I always thought they were classified as premium. They were my first "premium" pair of denim 14 years ago. At least they were premium in my opinion due to cost. I loved those jeans to death!! I have fond memories of lucky and would go back in a heartbeat!!

I had hoped Lucky Brand would be the answer to my long search for jeans. After trying several pairs of Luckys over the last few months, however, I am still searching. Maybe I'll give the Lolita's a try. Thanks for the tip.

I tried on the Brooke too -- they're more of a baby bootcut. I'm actually thinking of selling my old Hudsons because they don't seem to be playing well with my most-worn booties these days, and the pocket flaps interfere with a lot of tops I like to wear. The Brookes would be a potential replacement, but I'm in no hurry. I figure I'll see how the Lolitas go. I have plenty of jeans, I just wanted some dark wash bootcuts and just couldn't abide the growing discomfort with my old ones.

Yeah, I agree that the price of Lucky (at least when not on sale) puts it in sort of mid-level category, along with Kut and the like.

Anna, I never would have thought to look in Express! It's funny, but premium jeans (at least in my area) seem very samey-samey these days. Everyone has a skinny, a cropped skinny, and some distressed boyfriends. And I swear the sizing in premium denim has gotten more whack. Teeny tiny leg openings and very slim cut thighs, but with larger waist measurements! It was nice to walk into Lucky and try on an 8/29 (my usual size) and have it actually WORK.

I've had great luck with Lucky Brand myself. The Lolita, Sofia, and Sweet Jean are all really nice if you have curves. I wish they had a looser cut for curvy; for me at least the Easy Rider is too low rise to be comfortable all day.

I agree with dashielle, though, and said so during our recent debates about premium denim - I think Lucky's pricing puts it nearer to premium denim than most mall brands, or at least qualifies it for some kind of midrange category.

I got some high rise dark rinse jeans from Express for $26 recently.
Then a pair of blackish acid wash high rise ones from H&M for $4 on clearance. I'm finding premium jeans don't have what I'm looking for.

I have left this particular stone unturned, though now I'm tempted. On a side note, it's funny now to think that non-premium brings a price of >$100 nowadays! *you kids get off my lawn*

I think I'm going to let go of my two old pairs of Paige dark wash bootcut jeans, even though they are both in wonderful condition (ebay, here they come!). The waistbands are too restrictive and they're not as comfortable on me as they used to be (thanks, expanding perimenopausal midsection). And even more frustratingly, they've never quite stopped that annoying bleeding of blue dye onto lighter colored items (and my hands!) when I wear them, despite washing, vinegar soaking, etc.

So yesterday, in the spirit of leaving no retail stone unturned, I stopped in the Lucky Brand store and tried on a pair of the Lolita boot cuts. In the "long" length (34"), they will be long for me with a 2.5" or so heel, maybe even 3". They are very flattering and extremely comfortable! I always liked the fit of Lucky on me, but a few years ago I stopped trying them because it seemed they never stocked longer lengths, and 32" just doesn't cut it on me unless I am wearing a completely flat shoe, which is almost never.

Link is below if anyone is interested. They have a few washes, and the cut is particularly good for those of us who have hips and thighs to fit. Be aware, they are stretchy, not stiff, but I like my jeans with stretch. The SA said they will loosen up maybe half a size with wear over the course of a day, but they go right back to the original size when they are washed.

http://www.luckybrand.com/loli.....ita&s=

I'll try to take some pics tomorrow and post them.
