Thanks everyone, I shall definately not be purchasing from the again, I have no problem paying good money for a pair of shoes but I do expect to get at least 12 months out of them before the lining wears through, this happens on all my shoes eventually but I usually get at least 18 months out of them.

Elisabeth I have put up a facebook status about them and an email to their customer service department and I shall now add this tale to my reportoire of bad customer service (I've been slagging off Kwikfit tyre sales for years after they tried to con me that my car brakes were a death trap and when BF did them there was several thousand miles left in them!!)

Roseandjoan I shall contact trading standards tomorrow.

Angie my head space is a little clearer, funeral done and dusted and BF sees the consultant on Thursday. The girl at work seems to have pulled her socks up for the moment and the new play worker I employed is fantastic x

Poor thing! I'm with Elizabeth and Rosee: poor reviews all around.Yelp, Reviewcentre, whatever. If they won't help you, then I'm all for others being warned. Sally of Already Pretty had a similar experience and wrote the poor review on her blog:

... you could also get a wikipedia account, and edit the "Jones the Bootmaker" entry to tell those researching the name that they have VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE as experienced by a loyal customer. That'll learn'em....
MWAH AHA HA HAAAA!!!

You know what might make you feel better, Louise? Tell everyone you know that Jones the Bootmaker makes poor quality footwear that falls apart in a couple of months. You've already made a start by telling everyone here. You can then phone their customer service and inform them that you were unhappy with the boots and their customer service, that you will not be purchasing any more boots by that label, and that you have passed on the word to all your friends.

I'm not a very nice person. But it might get results. If not, well, you're not spreading malicious lies. You're just telling it like you saw it. You had a bad experience with their boots.

They really have a poor customer satisfaction policy. After 2.5 months of light wear, they should replace the faulty boot or give you a refund or a credit for another purchase.
I have a pair of dark brown knee high boots that I really love; after about 2 to 3 week of wearing them, the sole started separating from the leather instep. Took them back to the store and they sent them to a shoe repair. They did a pretty good job fixing them (not perfect though) but they are definitely wearable.
I'm not familiar with the brand you mentioned but you should go to online retailers of the brand and leave honest comments about your experience. Hopefully, if they start losing some business, they'll change their policy.

That's atrocious Louise, they were one store where I thought the shoes are high quality (I love that their shoes have leather lining and not PU).

Isn't there anything else you can do? The answer they've given you is unsatisfactory and too generic. Wear and tear is not supposed to happen after ONLY 2 1/2 months - boots are the kind of item that should last a few seasons. Theirs at least. Every item should always be inspected for quality - but something can always slip the checks.

Grrr! I feel your frustration! To me any product should be able to last one full season - or what's the point of buying it! If yours got 'light' use, then they should be able to last even longer.

But when it's all said and done, don't buy from them again. . .?

No more boots from Jones the Bootmaker for you. Naughty manufacturer.

How are you, Louise? I hope that your head space is a little more at peace.

I bought some boots from Jones the Bootmaker on 31/12/2010. By the middle of February after light wear I noticed the inner lining had already begun to disintegrate around the little toe area. I returned them to store hoping for a refund. Eventually after rather a lot of arguing on my part they agreed to sent them off to quality control. I popped into store to find out what was going on as it had been 2 weeks, the report from the QC guy stated "the lining was compacted and as a result of fair wear and tear" Now bearing in mind the boots were originally on sale for £110 (I paid £55 in the sale) and they have had 2 1/2 months light wear I'm absolutely disgusted with that response. I have had Primark £12 shoes which have lasted longer, obviously I am mistaken that Jones the Bootmaker make quality shoes!!!!! x
