Maya, good to know for future reference - thanks! I wasn't planning on jumping on these purchases anyway since I have enough jeans, but I've always been perplexed at how sizing in the 20-30 range worked. I assumed it had to do with some inch measurement...

I assume that the waist measurement is probably where the waistband of the jeans actually ends on your torso, based on the rise of the jeans, rather than a measurement of your natural waist? (My natural waist is about 12" up on my torso, so waistbands hit me at the pudgy midsection between hips and bellybutton.)

Kari, those numbers are meant to correspond to waist size. If you're an 8/10 I would try a 29 or 30 (which I know doesn't help at all since those sizes aren't available in these jeans, but for future reference...).

When you said the 23-26 range I had to laugh because that would mean pants meant to fit a 26 inch waist would be the largest size available :p

I wish I had a 23 or 24 inch waist, because besides the obvious glory of having a really teeny tiny waist, those sizes always (unsurprisingly) end up in the sale section.

Tanya, thanks for clarifying. I wondered if larger number might correspond to an actual inch measurement for some jeans that use this size standard, but I haven't seen any sizing charts that explain where these numbers come from.

Kari, there is no real system, women's jeans sizes are all over the place. Usually 26 corresponds to size 2, 27 to size 4 etc.

How do you know what size you are when jeans are in the 23-26 range instead of more standard American size? Is the number a measurement in inches of your natural waist? Hips? Inseam?
I normally wear size 8 or 10 in jeans.

My limit of what I'm willing to pay for denim is much lower than many of you on the forum (I can't see myself paying over $50-60 for a pair of jeans), but I'm still curious.

For which the rest of us are very grateful, Tanya. Glad you can manage that with all you're accomplishing right now!

Yay April, I am so glad for you! I hope they fit and please post pics when you get them. I have the pinstriped ones too and got them in my usual size (26), and they fit well, but I do need the waist taken in as usual.

Tanya -- thanks for posting this! I ordered the pinstriped ones, because I have no higher-waisted jeans and would like to try that look. For a total of $23 (they were offering free shipping on jeans!), it's hard to beat.

Interestingly, the comments on the Overstock site say both "these run really big" to "these run really small." Not sure what's up with that, but at that price, it seemed worth the risk.

And I am glad, Tanya, that you are bending your rule about staying off the forum. I always love your contributions!

For what it's worth, my 2 pair of R&S Jeans stretched out a ridiculous amount (and seemed to run big in the first place). If I were to buy another pair, I'd size down at least one size. ...Just in case anyone was wondering if the 25s they have in stock might fit.
