I liked your entry there because I see myself in it. You do have to know yourself to develop that inner and outer cohesiveness. Altho, I have to say - that still leaves an awful lot of room to play visually. I feel I have to have a new 'sub moniker' every so often, concentrate on one manifestation at a time...

Ah, I loved the couch and cushions analogy, this should say something about sleep deprived me...
Nice interesting read (I like your writing style).

LOL! The garden analogy is fantastic! I like to divide and propagate old faithfuls, rescue orphans, baby end of season sale plants, and occaisionally spring for something special. Fashion-wise I have multiples or striped T's and turtleneck sweaters, I haunt Winner's, Marshall's, and Mark's WWH, have trouble resisting the lure of outlets and sales, but occaisionally pull the trigger on a classic designer item.

I am in a new house, and figuring out the new garden. Growing zone 5/6 after 25 years of gardening in zone 2b! Just as I am in a new work environment and changing up things to fit my new 'environmental norm'.

I just wish my *cheap chic* outfits were as consistently satisfying as my garden experiments!

1. Swath of miniature Iris propagated from 3 corns
2. Peonies rescued from a neighbor who was building a fence and ripping them out
3. Conca D'or lillies purchased in August for .99cents each, the second year.
4. John Cabot rose (part of the Canadian Explorer series and bred in Winnepeg to withstand Canadian winters)

Thanks Smittie! Yes - I feel like you too sometimes - however, at my best, I take more of a slow and steady approach. Not just in clothes, but in life Thanks for the kind words I'll be interested to hear if it sparks any thoughts about your clothing "process".

A fun read TG.
You're a great writer.
I agree with you that if you really know you're style, you'll *generally* spend less because you'll be more content.
I liked your analogy to gardening. I'm definitely goal- oriented, and want to rip everything out, do the garden up right according to a plan/goal, and then just watch it grow, making minimal changes along the way. Basically, it's about having a great foundation/bones to work with. I hate just adding plants piecemeal to a garden that's not quite right to begin with. This goes for home decor too.
I don't think I've ported this philosophy to my clothing choices though....I'll have to have a think.

Hi there, I apologize for the quick drop-in ... I've got a few big things happening (going back to school, for one) and have been distracted ... I've still been lurking about and reading the blog, but haven't had time to post.

Anyways, I was going through my old blog and found this post I did about personal style ... I hope I am not flattering myself but thought it might resonate with a few of you. I hope this isn't inappropriate ... I'm not self-promoting, promise, blogging is only a personal hobby that I seldom share, let alone promote :)

Looking forward to lurking theough everyone's spring posts!! X
