Vicki, I don't own an Aritzia coat but they look like nice quality in the stores. I haven't tried them on, really, myself, so don't know about the fit and cut.

The only truly oversized coat I own is this pea jacket. It is double breasted.

My other wool coats are more tailored in fit.

I like both single and double breasted coats but this is a very personal choice.

FWIW, the Aritzia coats didn’t work for me. I went in person and tried on coats from their line 3 different times. I settled on a coat from Mango (see Finds). Well I didn’t settle, ‘cause it’s fabulous 70% wool and fits me beautifully. More classic - but that’s my vibe. I don’t know if I’m cut out for the oversized look.

Thank you, everyone, for your input and I am most grateful. The Aritizia Babaton in the wool-cashmere or soft wool-cashmere, seems well liked among YLF'ers.
kkards, I appreciate the shopping recommendation as well as the color suggestions.

Suz, the links worked and I went straight to them. This is a really pretty choice and as we are similar in size, do you have a preference in your coats for single or double breasted? I don’t know why I am saying this, but the single breasted is probably a lighter weight overall yet the double breasted may keep one warmer due to the way it is buttoned.

Jaime, you gave me the biggest smile with your Dan Levy approval. I also am inspired by his Dad, Eugene Levy, whose sartorial style and elegance I really like, too.

Runcarla, nice to know about the Babaton line, which I’d not heard of and gets thumbs up by my YLF friends. Also, we do have Mango and I need to remember that store.
Thank you, @Style Fan, for the coat confirmation. When so many people know about it, that's a good thing!

Angie, I didn’t know about your experience living in Paris. How cool is that! I do get cold, like you, so if you know the weather and what works, this helps. I really like the shorter J. Crew Toscana coat and its length reminds me of my black Burberry Brit trench coat I took on my last two trips. Yes, I see why the shorter coat seems more practical than the volume of a longer top coat (unless I want to use it as a blanket). While I still like the appearance of a longer coat, it may not be as useful traveling or at home.

JP, thank you for adding those links and both coats are really pretty. I had to look up what a double-faced coat was, (now I know!), because I wasn’t familiar with that term.
Lots of choices to think about now and grateful for those of you on this site.

Paris in April sounds lovely.
This might work? Relaxed fit, unlined, 10% cashmere and in Pine color. It comes in camel and deep brown as well. But, it's final sale.
https://outlet.theory.com/rela....._QVP.html#

I don't know any of these brands but I found these two with 10% cashmere:
The first one is double faced and looks like w/o lining:

Vicki, you look GORGEOUS in this coat!

My two cents:

FWIW, I've lived just outside Paris, and the coat you have will probably be fine in April. No need to get a thicker one, unless there is a freak cold spell.

That said, in the event of a cold spell, may I suggest the Toscana coat from J.Crew. I have it in cream, and it cocoons and drapes in a beautifully oversized way. It's not too big and looks plenty fluid. In my regular size it is VERY fluid. Great for big knits and hoodie layers. I think you'll like the fit too - and FABULOUS Italian fabric. Quality piece.

It's also easier to travel with than a LONG oversized top coat, or cocoon coat.

I was going to suggest Aritzia, but I see Suz beat me to the punch. They seem to have made these kinds of coats one of the mainstays of their Babaton line.

Mango has nice coats, but wool - not cashmere. (I’m having trouble pasting links. Just Google Mango and search coats.)

Paris in April! That sounds fun.

Aritzia has single and double breasted versions. The fits are slightly but not overly oversized. Sorry, I couldn't make the Finds work, though it appeared to be saving them....

I’d look at Zara, but this time of year, coats are going to more limited in colors and sizes. You might also want to look at Poshmark and Vestiaire

I love a navy coat, but what about a pop of color- maybe a red or burgundy

I have noticed people wearing oversized coats for some time and I would like to find one of these top coats that is long but slightly lighter and still have a touch of cashmere.

I say this because I bought the most fantastic camel topcoat a number of years ago and it was a cashmere blend from Uniqlo. Having that little bit of cashmere makes the drape and touch so soft. Having that is somewhat essential to me. The coat I have is not for cold weather. It keeps me only slightly warm, but is nice on a cold California evening. Attached is my coat and then also a couple of inspiration photos that I recently saw on Instagram of Dan Levy and his friends. In one, Dan Levy is wearing a double-breasted coat and in the other photo, I like both women’s oversized coats (the camel has single buttons, the black I can’t tell). I already have my shorter camel one and I’m not sure what color to get because black may overwhelm me, yet is a pretty basic color (so navy, burgundy, loden green?). The bigger question is where to buy one. Uniqlo doesn’t seem to carry any topcoats with the 10% cashmere other than a man’s coat and they are sold out. Otherwise, I would’ve tried an XXS (leave no retail stone unturned). Any percentage of cashmere is fine. It’s just that the one I have now is 10%. Quince is another option because I don’t want to make this an investment coat. The reviews said that their merino wool coats were somewhat stiff and didn’t flow. If you happen to have any suggestions after looking at these photos for where to shop, I would love to hear from you. There’s a possibility I may go to Paris in April and a friend called yesterday asking me if I was interested. I am and I’m thinking that a coat like that would be helpful. Thank you for your input. No hurry.
